A Note to Publishers and Content Owners

This site is set up to digitally preserve video game magazines from 1999 and earlier. We do this because issues of these magazines are not readily available from publishers/content owners. While we don’t have legal permission, we operate in a way where we do not release anything that will reduce any potential income for you, or magazines that are available from you, nor do we release scans that are of a quality that may reflect poorly on you. So far this has worked, with several publishers/content owners basically ignoring our existence.

However, if you wish that we do not make content that you legally have ownership available on this site, just let us know and we will remove it. While we would prefer permission, we will fully oblige with your wishes concerning your content. This is a hobby we do out of passion and love for the video game magazines of yesterday, and not worth legal battles of any kind.

Vladi  : (01 September 2010 - 03:14 PM) I'm waiting for the Wii to hit the bottom (~100 dollars per unit) to buy the console with Metroid M. Until then I want to read feedback about the game.
Mister Zero  : (01 September 2010 - 10:21 AM) It looks interesting. Not sure if I'm gonna like it though. I just wish they'd go back to the old formula like they are with almost everything else right now.
Mister Zero  : (01 September 2010 - 10:20 AM) I was going to... but haven't yet.
Vladi  : (31 August 2010 - 10:20 PM) Has anyone tried Metroid Other M yet?
Mister Zero  : (31 August 2010 - 09:06 PM) Castlevania HD seems cool too but I haven't bought it yet. Holding out to see if they offer any deals on it.
Mister Zero  : (31 August 2010 - 09:05 PM) Also, anyone who hasn't tried Scott Pilgrim: The Game should check it out, lots of old school multi-player beat-em-up fun to be had! Tons of video game name-drops and references, too.
Mister Zero  : (31 August 2010 - 09:04 PM) Hey, heads up. Great deals on Xbox Live renewals via Live right now. I just paid 1$ for a month, and they're offering 39.99 for a year.
E-Day  : (31 August 2010 - 08:57 PM) Areala will have her work cut out for her when she returns. She already knew about that issue though :)
Phillyman  : (31 August 2010 - 07:32 PM) The advertisement section was created before we bought the gallery addon
E-Day  : (31 August 2010 - 07:20 PM) This is correct. Though I don't know why ads were being linked to from the Wiki instead of from the image gallery.
Schloss Ritter  : (31 August 2010 - 06:25 PM) That has something to do with the address of the Wiki changing. Someone would have to go through and edit all the posts with the new links.
Gnash  : (31 August 2010 - 09:12 AM) Im having trouble with some of the images in the ads. All I get is a Posted Image message. Wolverine would be one of them, but the Battletoads ones work ok.
Bablefish  : (31 August 2010 - 08:38 AM) The problem for most of us, we have not got a clue what to say.
Vladi  : (29 August 2010 - 08:32 PM) yippie, finally I can use the Shoutbox :)
triverse  : (29 August 2010 - 02:08 AM) feather stand owl
Phillyman  : (26 August 2010 - 07:21 AM) Yeah that mod never worked for me, anyways you may want to log into Google Webmater tools and submit those links
E-Day  : (26 August 2010 - 05:59 AM) Someone has a mod for Dreamhost that lets you install it easily. It took me three seconds once I found the mod :)
Phillyman  : (25 August 2010 - 10:39 PM) Enable IonCube so that the sitemap software for this site would work. Basically it gives search engines a list of every page this site has. It really helps with showing up in the search engine results. I have it running for my two new sites, and both are already showing up in Google
E-Day  : (25 August 2010 - 09:52 PM) @Philly: what was it you wanted them to do?
E-Day  : (25 August 2010 - 09:52 PM) This is an animal-free website. No Phoenix's allowed!
Phillyman  : (25 August 2010 - 08:55 PM) sounds dirty :P
triverse  : (25 August 2010 - 08:55 PM) The Phoenix is currently at 30%. The day is coming...
Phillyman  : (25 August 2010 - 04:00 PM) Dreamhost lost my support, I asked them for 1 favor that would take 30 seconds. They sent me to a 10,000 word article on how to do it myself, and a big disclaimer saying that it may not work. I switched to BlueHost and they enabled that feature immediately for me.
E-Day  : (25 August 2010 - 03:57 PM) You should have stuck with Dreamhost. you get the domain and privacy with the hosting. I plan on moving the domain to them in the fall.
Phillyman  : (25 August 2010 - 03:04 PM) So I went to Godaddy, and apparently I can buy my domain for 9 years and have private registration for $119. Its normally $20 a year for both....I may do it :)
E-Day  : (25 August 2010 - 07:57 AM) I LOVE Married with Children. Very edgy for an 80's show, and even a 90's show. I downloaded the whole series last year and watched it, and now I am buying it on DVD. I will also be watching The Golden Girls soon. First I have to finish watching Sledge Hammer.
MagikMilk  : (25 August 2010 - 04:43 AM) i always love watching Married with Children even though we've heard most of these jokes being worn out today Al Bundy still says it funny, and to keep up with nostalgic memories from the 90s i always watch Save by the Bell first thing in the morning, i don't like College Years though
Mister Zero  : (24 August 2010 - 10:45 PM) For a while the old American Gladiators was on every night and I'd watch that. Alas they moved it to an all retro sports channel that I don't get in my "package."
Mister Zero  : (24 August 2010 - 10:43 PM) If they brought back Nick GaS, I'd still have that channel on 24/7.
Mister Zero  : (24 August 2010 - 10:43 PM) I watch a lot of Cheers and Golden Girls. :P The older sitcoms are so much more witty and smart.. TV is very shallow these days in USA. I don't even like paying for cable because I hardly watch it. The missus has it on all day, however.
E-Day  : (24 August 2010 - 09:41 PM) the US sitcoms these days seem to rely on a lot of sex jokes to get by. They're funny, but after a while it gets old. I've actually gotten into a lot of old sitcoms from the 70s and 80s, when television wasn't afraid of dealing with some soocial issue and risking offending someone. It just seems like things are incredibly watered down these days.
KiwiArcader  : (24 August 2010 - 08:41 PM) I prefer Father Ted, Vicar of Dibley or Open All Hours myself ... US comedies like Big Bang Theory & 2 & Half Men are great but the Brits have less in-your-face humor to my mind.
E-Day  : (24 August 2010 - 08:34 PM) Keeping Up Appearances is absolutely hilarious.
KiwiArcader  : (24 August 2010 - 06:04 PM) British comedies are simply the BEST!
E-Day  : (24 August 2010 - 02:17 PM) We seem to get most of the stuff here
E-Day  : (24 August 2010 - 02:17 PM) Order them from Canada ;)
Bablefish  : (24 August 2010 - 09:24 AM) If you live in the US and are a fan of British shows your out of luck. We only get a fraction of what is out there.
KiwiArcader  : (24 August 2010 - 12:46 AM) @E-Day. I know that. What I meant was given the internet phenomenon and the fact air travel has made everyone at best 24 hours from anyone else why they persist with old school thinking which only increases the likelihood of copyright theft. If you knew that that sci-fi movie playing in the USA is going to take 6 months to get to you what do you think is going to happen. Same with gaming where you get regionalising and resulting modchipping.
E-Day  : (23 August 2010 - 11:10 PM) @kiwi: it has to do with licensing rights. Being in Canada, I cannot buy DVD sets of Space Ghost Coast to Coast from the Cartoon Network i nthe US due to licensing issues. Different continents have different distributors/publishers, so they want to be able to make money by selling stuff in their region.
triverse  : (23 August 2010 - 11:03 PM) That laptop I was talking about was with a swivel screen, it could be spun around and laid flat, like a tablet. It was pretty nice. It was not a tablet in the sense that we accept them now.
KiwiArcader  : (23 August 2010 - 10:10 PM) My question is why should companies be allowed to regionalise sales of movies/games etc at all?. I should be able to buy a PS3/Xbox360/Blu-ray movie game while holidaying abroad and expect to be able to use it in my player when I get home. These industries are out of touch with the dynamics of a truly global marketplace.
E-Day  : (23 August 2010 - 07:10 PM) You void the warranty, but otherwise there is nothing they can really do about it. You paid for it, it is now your possession to do with as you please. At least that is how it should be.
KiwiArcader  : (23 August 2010 - 07:02 PM) That's the one. But given I am primarily using it to read mags/comics etc I personally see no reason to do so at this point in time.
Bablefish  : (23 August 2010 - 05:01 PM) This is why jailbreaking and Iphone is legal http://abcnews.go.co...ory?id=11254253
KiwiArcader  : (23 August 2010 - 03:37 PM) 17" tablet ... wow ... 12.1 is the biggest I've seen in 4:3 format which is ideal for mags etc ...14" Gatewway the biggest in 16:9 format .... would've been pricey methinks
E-Day  : (23 August 2010 - 03:14 PM) It was probably very pricey. I've looked at those kinds of laptops, and they cost way more than I am willing to spend on something that isn't a desktop.
triverse  : (23 August 2010 - 01:23 PM) Awhile back, a local store (Wal-Mart) had a 17 wide screen laptop that had a touch screen and it could swivel around and be used like a tablet. Should have bought it. That would be the best of both worlds for me (tablet style when it is more convenient and access to the keyboard for e-mails and such).
E-Day  : (23 August 2010 - 12:53 PM) I'm waiting for a decent sized Windows tablet where I can install (and run) some drawing programs so I can use it like a graphics tablet.
triverse  : (23 August 2010 - 12:13 PM) To me, it is a case of what do I want from the device? For me, it isn't so much what I have to do to get around security measures to run things I want when there are alternatives that don't stop me from running just about anything I want. If you want to run emulators or Windows or something, simply don't get an Apple device. There are better open devices out there for that stuff.
E-Day  : (23 August 2010 - 09:03 AM) But the counter to that is that you bought it knowing that it could be jailbroken and would allow you to run the software that Apple has decided you shouldn't run :)
