Phillyman, the founder of this site, has decided to step down to pursue other things in life. I decided to step up and keep the site going. Apart from cosmetic changes, everything else will be pretty much business as usual. That is the plan anyhow.

New guides and FAQs will be going up, some forum clean up taking place, and I will try to make things easier to find. Feel free to ask any questions or make any suggestions for changes or modifications. And if you have any FAQ questions you would like to see, send them along.

I have come to the realization that I no longer have the time to keep this site going. Our 5th Anniversary is just around the corner on June 25th 2010. On that date I will officially retire from this site. I am hoping that someone will step forward between now and then and take over ownership of this website. I just feel as though I can no longer sustain this site on a level that is fair to our members. In life priorities change and so do people, I am hoping that I can pass Retromags to a new owner and through that action this site can continue. Let's be honest, that I probably am not the best person to run a huge project such as this. Many times my own personality has clashed with the talent that we acquired, some of these times the people deserved the treatment they got.....other times I regret the actions I have taken. So I look out to you guys and hope that someone steps forward to take this website in a fresh and new direction. I have a few members that I would not mind handing this site over to, hopefully you know who you are....

E-Day will be taking over ownership of Retromags, I have done some rough calculations and figure that we need about $225 to pay Retromags up for the year. For the past few weeks I have been working on purchasing OutOfPrintArchive.com from Meppi and Triverse. I recently came into a bit of money and I really liked the direction that Andy and Carl took with their site. At the moment we are finishing up some minor legalities, but I will be combining Retromags and OOPA into one site. This purchase includes all of Meppi and Triverses scans, their magazine collections, their contacts with publishers, the OOPA domain and all of its contents. I will be combining the two forums together, and bring everything under the Retromags brand. Please do not ask how much this purchase cost, as we have a confidentiality clause in the contract that prevents this information from being disclosed. All other questions should be kept to this thread so that they can be answered in a timely manner. A corresponding article has been posted on OOPA to alieviate any disbelief on either side.

New Section opens up for Buying, Selling and Trading!

I have noticed over the past few months that an increasing amount of members like to list items for sale here. I asked myself how I could better serve our community of members here...and it hit me! Rather than just open up a section on the forums for members to post about items they put on Ebay....Why not allow them to create virtual stores to sell their items! I worked tirelessly last night to create a way for members who already have Paypal accounts, to create "Buy It Now" buttons that would work on the forums. Now members who wish to sell some old video games or magazines can create individual listings and set the price, shipping and quantity of the items they have! Any member with at least 10 posts can post items they have for sale in our new section, our Staff, Team Members and Premium Members....have the ability to create "Buy it Now" buttons and sell directly from Retromags without the need of having a Ebay listing.

Why not check it out and start listing your items? Retromags gets indexed by Google every day, and we show up near the top of any search terms that have to do with games/magazines. Be descriptive in your titles and you are sure to get some bites on your items! Members are encouraged to create as many listings as they wish in this section!

Retromags does not assume responsibility for items listed within this system. Any issues should be taken up with the seller/buyer and Paypal directly!

Spring Cleaning!

Well we are almost there! Only about 100 more items to place back into the Download manager and we will be all fixed up. I would like to thank all you guys for sticking with us through this rough transition. Its been a tough few months and I could not keep this site going without the support you guys give me. Big thanks to KiwiArcader, gladiator and Jake for helping out these past few weeks. I have a lot of stuff coming down the pipeline for this site, and hopefully once that dust settles....I can start cranking out some magazines and filling some holes in our collection. I have started reorganizing and refreshing items around this site already. I have condensed down the insane amount of usergroups we had, changed the colors to be more plesant. You may also notice that the Ebay Deals section is gone due to inactivity, and replaced with a Buying, Selling and Trading section. I have many more changes to come in the next few weeks, and look forward to any feedback you may have to make this site the #1 destination for retro video game magazines!
