Welcome to Retromags, the vintage video game magazine archive

Welcome to Retromags, the vintage video game magazine archive. This site is all about digitally preserving video game magazines from yesteryear. You'll find hundreds of full issues to download and thousands of scanned magazine covers. Game magazines used to be incredibly important to the game industry, and while those days are long gone thanks to the Internet and World Wide Web, that does not mean those old magazines shouldn't be remembered and enjoyed today. This site allows you to do so easily and digitally. It's a nice alternative to having to have boxes of magazines stored in your house if that's something you don't want.

We are always looking for help, be it scanning or donating magazines, or contributing to the site in other forms. It costs nothing to be a member of this site. We do not sell anything on this site, and there are no ads. There are no profits made on this site; any money that is ever obtained by this site goes towards the cost of hosting the site.

A Note to Publishers and Content Owners
This site is set up to digitally preserve video game magazines from 1999 and earlier for current magazines. The rules for defunct magazines vary on a case-by-case basis. We do this because issues of these magazines are not readily available from publishers/content owners. While we don’t have legal permission, we operate in a way where we do not release anything that will reduce any potential income for you, or magazines that are available from you, nor do we release scans that are of a quality that may reflect poorly on you. So far this has worked, with several publishers/content owners basically ignoring our existence.

However, if you wish that we do not make content that you legally have ownership available on this site, just let us know and we will remove it. While we would prefer permission, we will fully oblige with your wishes concerning your content. This is a hobby we do out of passion and love for the video game magazines of yesterday, and not worth legal battles of any kind.

OK, first say hi to all the members of the board.

This is my first contribution to the site. I had scanned all the pages of the Computer & Video Games Nš 183 (February 1997) at 300 DPI and resized them to 1440 x 1979 and after that i had made a cbr file and already uploaded to megaupload & rapidshare.

Here are the links (since i tried to use the usual upload way but i didn't find any upload button in the downloads page of the site).

The issue is this one

Thank's a lot gladiator for the great scan.

I used to buy C&VG every month without fail. It is definitely one of my favourite magazine's and the issue's with Paul Davies as Editor are some of the best. Liked the in depth coverage of Fighters Megamix in this issue and the news of Street Fighter 3 too.

Thank's again for the scan. :)

Glad that you like it, probably my favourite video games magazine (maybe Amiga's The One was the other one that i liked a lot).

I still got more Computer & Video Games Magazines and I will upload more as soon as I scan them, for the year 1997 i sure got from January to June and that will be the next ones.

Hiya... although I am only a pleb here I have downloaded your mag. Haven't checked it out yet as been busy scanning but I will do so when I get home today.

I will upload it to direct downloads for you. I usually create a PDF version and make it available on Rapidshare as well as a lot of people prefer that format so bear with me while I get them uploaded etc. Should only be a day or so ....

Well .... my DSL2+ connection went down today and I'm using a crappy connection until my Telco gets it back up and running again so it won't be today unfortunately. It's also screwed my uploading another "special" as well ..... Posted Image

gladiator, thanks for this awesome upload :) . I need to go through my boxes of old game magazines this weekend. I could probably find a few things that this site is missing.

Expect to see it here shortly. Uploading it as I type this.....

UPDATE. Added it to direct downloads and included a Rapidshare link to the PDF version.

@ Gladiator. When I had a look at the pages before downsizing to our 1440 resolution I noticed that the edges of 2 sides has been cropped. This is a common issue as most scanners have a 3mm blindzone at the edge of the scanplate. So if you push the magazine hard against the edge of the plate you lose 3mm on 2 sides. Don't worry .... just letting you know why it occurs so you can account for it for future scans. I had the same issue with my scanner so I purchased an A3 scanner and just put the mag dead centre. Cost a bit though ....

Another great C&VG scan. Just read issue 184 and really enjoyed the huge Street Fighter 3 and Tekken 3 coverage.

Great scan gladiator, thank's a lot. :)

I made a mistake when i uploaded the files and put the wrong number, but the links are for issue 183, instead that the rar says is 182.
Sorry for the troubles.
