Notable Stuff:

  • Wow! How many magazines, especially in the field of video games, get to notch 200 issues AND twenty years of publishing on their belts at the same time?
  • Lots of opinions expressed over Verant banning a number of EverQuest players for griefing and...uh...writing fanfic?
  • Look for the Penny Arcade strip on page 27.
  • George Jone's A Call For Change was written thirteen years ago, but it's just as relevant today, perhaps even more so, as studios continue pushing the envelope while the media lumps gamers in the same category as sociopaths.
  • Hey look! It's a screenshot of Halo back when it was being developed for the Mac in the pipeline section!
  • Also, Duke Nukem Forever has a scheduled release date of Fall 2001. Yeah, yeah, fill in your own joke here...
  • Reeeeeeeeeeal subtle use of breasts and cleavage to sell Anachronox in that ad there, Eidos.
  • Good GAWD is that 20th anniversary gaming history lesson an amazing way to cram for your gaming finals. CGW touches on every major milestone from 1958's Space War! on the PDP-1 all the way up through Microsoft's acquisition of Bungie and the US release of the PS2. Forget everything else--THIS is why you need to own this issue!
  • Amazingly enough, many of Loyd's predictions on gaming in 2015 have come true.
  • Wanna see a sea reaper in all her topless glory? Kill the ARPFIX.GZP file in your install directory for Giants: Citizen Kabuto and Delphi flies free again.
  • Robert Coffey on Q3: Team Arena: "2.5 stars. It's still half the game Unreal Tournament is." Headshot!
  • Only 1.5 stars for Lara's final classic Tomb Raider outing? A bit harsh, don't you think?
  • ...and still not has harsh as that 1 star for Squad Leader. And Timeline.
  • CGW refers to Hitman as 'Code 47' in CG Tips. Proofreading much?
