Notable Stuff:

  • VideoGames.com pulled off a phenomenal April Fools joke by claiming the PlayStation wasn't Y2K compliant. No idea how many people fell for this gag, but hats off to the editors!
  • Does anybody else think the women in the ad for Point Blank 2 looks like Celine Dion?
  • Konami changed Silent Hill a bit for the final release version, which forces a number of magazines to print updates and corrections to strategies and puzzle solutions which were based on beta code. Whoops!
  • Ah yes, bleem! shows up to cause Sony even more emulation-related woes.
  • Many gamers got their first taste of Jack Thompson's vendetta against the games industry when he spearheaded a suit brought against multiple game developers/publishers, including Sony, Nintendo and Sega, two online pornography websites, and the creators of the film The Basketball Diaries. "We intend to hurt Hollywood. We intend to hurt the video game industry," he's quoted as saying in this issue. He gets disbarred ten years later, which is approximately 9.995 years too late in most rational peoples' opinions.
  • Pelican's Tilt Force 2 controller gives us SIXAXIS-like functionality a full seven years before the SIXAXIS controller is released by Sony.
  • Despite being in development for both PS1 and Dreamcast, Test Drive Cycles is cancelled on both platforms, with only a GBA release to mark the fact it was ever in development.
  • Chessmaster Millennium is never released on the PlayStation.
  • TNT: Tricks and Treasure is never released on PlayStation, or any other system.
  • Leggit is never released on PlayStation, or any other system. Developer Camden folds before completing a single title.
  • Ouch...Rampage 2: Universal Tour earns a one-disc rating in the reviews citing a lack of anything new, variety, and fun.
  • Thanks 2
