About This File

GamePro Issue 073 (August 1995)

Scanned version and digital restoration version.

What's New in Version 09/03/2021 02:22 AM

Released

Completely new scan to replace the previous scan from before 2015.

Download is a zip file containing the updated scan along with the digitally restored pages from the original QuarkXPress layout files.

Special thanks to the Video Game History Foundation and Frank Cifaldi (@TheRedEye) for providing the original QuarkXPress files for this issue.

Notes about the digitally restored version:

Only the original content pages are included. The ads in the magazine were not included in the original layout files for the issue. This includes pages with half page ads at the bottom of content pages.

Original high resolution artwork for the cover image of Kazuya was missing, so a lower resolution version was used and upscaled. Two covers are included here, one with the artwork upscaled and blurred and one where it's more pixelated.

There are two versions of a lot of pages (sometimes three): the first version and the revision (and sometimes second revision or a verion named "cri revision"). the last revision page is the one that was printed in the magazine. There are several pages where the first version and revision(s) are identical, but are included regardless.

A lot of images and screen shots had to be placed on the pages. Any difference in position between pages with revisions come down to them not being placed back on the pages in the exact pixel perfect position.

The ProNews pages (pages 117 to 118) are missing the background artwork. A high resolution version was not found on the disc containing all the original layout files. The revision for page 117 has a pixelated version of the background image.

This is quite possibly the most badass file on the whole site. Thank you, @E-Day, for all your hard work on this! ❤️

Great stuff but I only see portable reviews.  Are we missing the pages for the console reviews?

I'm sorry I was just not expecting a preview break between them. Everything looks awesome

It was a lot of work but it's awesome seeing what the pages look like before they are put on paper. @TheRedEye deserves thanks for providing me with the files. Hopefully he'll have time one day to provide more.

Or you could visit his office and copy the hundreds of discs for me and mail them up. I have reserve funds to cover all that ;)
