Mortal Kombat 3 Player's Guide

1 Screenshot

About This File

A fairly comprehensive guide to Mortal Kombat 3, mainly focused on the Arcade version, but also applicable to numerous home ports as well.

What makes this guide especially interesting is that it's also a guide to Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat II, with complete character breakdowns and move lists for those games too. So this is really a three-in-one deal. Not bad for the money!

Screenshots are very clear despite being black-and-white, and there was even an offer to get a supplementary update to the book for when the arcade MK3 received its newest upgrade (which wound up being the Ultimate MK3 board revision).

All apologies for the Walden Software sticker on the back, covering up some of the text. That sucker was on there like cement, and peeling it would have damaged the cover worse than leaving it on. It, like this book, is a relic of a bygone era. Consider it special bonus content, just for you! :)

Enjoy! ❤️

Just scanned thru, a lot of the MKI/MKII data is almost lifted/edited right out of the Awesome (SNES/Genesis) guides, which is not a bad thing.  Nice to see the same writing style used for MKIII coverage!!!

Not surprising, since Meston and Arnold were responsible for writing those books too. Douglas Arnold's mother owned a publishing company, and he and Meston convinced her to let them publish their guides through it, thus: "Sandwich Island" was born. :)

I own this one, only saw it once and snatched it immediately as I had MAJOR Mortal Kombat fever between 1994 and 1996. It's a very thorough and well-illustrated guide.

It's also an interesting product of the time - namely that very specific window that defines "mid 90s". You could tell that the authors were in love with the exploding Gen X and burgeoning internet cultures, what with their liberal use of digital art and an incredibly weird "glossary" of hip arcade slang that no one has ever heard in their life. I remember something like "Side False Johnson". You know, as in "Yo man, that was a really unfair move. Don't be a Side False Johnson"!  What!?
