Oni review: why does this game have dual analog controls they aren't as good as Z-targeting!

Feel really bad for these people because of what happens over the next 15 years where that becomes the default control scheme

Hell, wait until they get to gimmick-ass motion controllers. They won't know how they good they had it.

In 1999? No.

But currently? Well, that depends on where you live and what you want from Nintendo. For most people on this site, I'd say Nintendo and other Japanese developers have continued on a downward slide as their console releases decrease in significance. In Japan, however, the 3DS and other handheld gaming market is HUGE, and Nintendo's recent decision to enter the mobile game market is pretty much THE BIGGEST NEWS EVER around these parts. Is having Mario and Pikachu on my phone what I want from Nintendo? Hell no. But it's the way the Japanese market is trending, and the fact that Nintendo is jumping on board rather than continue their long-standing tradition of stubbornly refusing to adapt to changing trends can only bode well for their financial well-being (if not their creative one).

I still think Super Mario 64 is/was the high point for Nintendo. Sure, I got the Gamecube and the Wii but nothing on those really affected me like Mario's N64 in terms of sheer wonder and delight. Maybe I was older and more jaded so everything just felt like a rehash, even Mario Galaxy. The fact I still play Mario 64 on an emulator regularly tells me that at the very least 1996 was a great time for Nintendo :)

Then again, nothing at all has made me want to buy any model of PlayStation. And I have an Xbox 360 and an Xbox One and they're pretty much gathering dust.
