Even when it was new, Smash TV wasn't something you wanted to shovel quarters into. It never felt like you were getting anything out of the experience. It was an unabashed quarter eater, and I don't think many people played it for more than a dollar's worth of tokens.

i was introduced to SmashTV thru the NES, where it would regularly be one of the games i would rent (it and Contra were the two most popular, followed by Little Nemo in Slumberland). i knew it had been an arcade before that, but have never seen a cabinet for it.

this story is awesome, and i had never heard it before. thanks for sharing.
