New Release: Dengeki PlayStation Issue 66 (February 13, 1998)

Kind of surprised by the lower end of the review scores for Resident Evil 2: 65, 75, 80, 90.  Also interesting that Tomb Raider 2 got the highest single score in the mag (95), considering the near total apathy towards foreign titles in Japan (other than Tomb Raider 2 and a 2-page preview of French-developed Nightmare Creatures, this issue doesn't cover any non-Japanese games).

On the scanning front, this issue presented a couple of pains in my ass:

  1. 11 double-page joins
  2. Someone had apparently used the back cover as a cutting board for slicing up something with an exacto knife, so not only was the back cover cut to shreds, but the last 5 or so pages also had cuts through them in various places, requiring quite a bit of reconstructive editing.

Holy cow, the Parasite Eve article has so much beautiful artwork!!

I guess I shouldn't mention that the next issue I have not only has P.E. on the cover, it also has 25 pages of strategy, an ad for the game, an ad for the strategy guide to the game, reviews of the game, and a fold out poster as well.  No, I'd better not even bring that up, especially since it'll probably be quite a while till I get to it, since I've decided to put scanning on the back burner for a while so I can use my free time to actually play a game for once (That DOS thread got me pumped up to finally give Might and Magic III a shot.  So sue me - I haven't had time to play a single game since August of last year.  I think I deserve it.)    But I'm sure I'll get to that mag eventually, though probably not next.

Yeah, that...that's probably for the best you not bring that up. At all. Ever. F-for any reason...
