Pong Coffee Table (Kickstarter)

Recommended Posts

I guess I'm the only one that thinks that doing virtually anything other than playing Pong is a more valuable use of time, especially with a friend/guest involved.  The last time pong was fun for longer than 15 seconds was when it was the only game in existence...when it was good for about 45.  Or maybe its genius is simply lost on me?  I realize it requires more space, but a real ping pong table is a far cheaper investment that would actually involve some amount of enjoyment when used.

I'll take ten! Now I just need some of that Fry money and someone to tell them to shut up and take said money...

Just kidding, I'd rather have an air hockey table, cool as this Pong table looks. I wouldn't feel guilty about what I'd do to an air hockey setup... Could probably convince my boss to buy one of these though. He loves old Atari stuff. Thanks for sharing Philly!

I don't even want to know what the proposed kickstarter purchase price is.

estimated retail price: $1690 (plus $80 for a pair of chairs).

BUT, act now, and via KickStarter, you can get your very own table for ONLY $1100 (chairs still sold separately).

yeesh. good luck to them tho. it's a pretty awesome idea.

You ever price out a nice table at a furniture store? That $1100 really isn't all that bad, provided the quality is there. Plus, people who would truly be nostalgic for Pong are going to be the folks who are at an age where money tends to be a little looser...

I don't know, man.  There's an issue of GamePro being discussed in another thread that's going for $1000 on eBay.  If it's a toss-up between a Pong table and an issue of GamePro, and all I've got is $1000 to spend...well, I'd probably be better off buying something else entirely or re-evaluating my priorities in life.

I would wholeheartedly recommend reevaluating your priorities in life if you were to consider spending $1000 on a single magazine. I have mint condition, still in the padded manila envelope early issues of PSM, and I think I only paid $50 for the four of them, including #1.

That said, I doubt any of us can honestly say that we've never spend money on something silly, least of all me. :P

I was being facetious - I wasn't seriously suggesting that a sane person would ever buy a magazine at that price.  That seller is clearly delusional.  I've personally never purchased a magazine at any price higher than the one printed on the cover, and most of them were obtained for far less.

I know what you mean bud. Apart from those PSM issues, I think the only ones I've paid more than cover price for were a few issues of 1994 EGM, back when they were like catalogs. Heck, with the price of recycled paper these days, I think it was worth it just in the materials! :P
