Status and Check - Mark Trade

Hi, normally I don't do this, but it's been a while and maybe people have information.

Mark Trade announced to his patreon that he was going in for surgery, and then he disappeared. Does anyone know if he's OK, needed more resting up, or anything else? It has now been nearly 2 months since his last post anywhere, and I just want to know if he's doing OK.

We've actually had this discussion behind the scenes and the short answer is that no one knows.  I posted a message asking if he was OK to his Patreon page a few weeks ago, but the next day it had been deleted - whether by marktrade himself or by someone else, I don't know.  But yeah, as a non-contributor to his Patreon, my concern is strictly with his health, not whether or not he'd be resuming scanning anytime soon.  He hasn't logged in to Retromags since February, so we're just as in the dark as you are.

Sometimes, people who have committed to a project think that just because something (anything) that prevents them from fulfilling it is stopping them, they shouldn't say anything or walk away, or whatever. I hope that isn't the case here. On the other hand, if it's anything else that's made him decide to "retire", that's totally his right and choice and he's done amazing work. I wish him well however it comes out.

The problem here is that his Patreon collects money from his patrons at the start of every month whether he's posted anything or not.  So in the two months he's been missing, his patrons have been charged nearly $350 with nothing to show for it.  I find it hard to believe marktrade would take such a long break without warning his patrons and keeping them updated on his status...unless he was physically unable to do so, which is why I'm very concerned that his health issues may have been more serious than he let on.

I've lost nine friends in the past six or so years from respiratory infections, complications caused by neural implants, and cardiopulmonary issues aggravated by constant distress, and only three of them had someone inform the (same) community they were a part of, of what had happened to them.
