Wii Price And Launch Date!

Recommended Posts

Here it is:

$250; November 19th.

This is according to an article in the New York Times, as reported by IGN. This means that it's not directly from Nintendo but Nintendo is expected to announce details themselves today.

Wii titles are expected to cost around $50.

Some of the following is copied directly from IGN...

The console will come bundled with a copy of Wii Sports, a compilation sports game that best shows off the mechanics of the system's unique controller. Wii Sports features tennis, baseball, golf and previously unannounced bowling and boxing games.

Wii's much talked-about Virtual Console download service, which enables gamers to purchase classic games, will offer a library of some 30 titles when the system launches. Titles will include entries from the Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong franchises. Virtual Console games will cost between $5 and $10 each. Specifically, Nintendo announced that Virtual Console games would cost $5, $8 or $10; we're presuming these prices are for NES, SNES and Nintendo 64">N64 games respectively.

Wii's various controllers will be available to buy separately at launch. The Wii remote will cost about $40; the nunchuck about $20 and the classic controller about $20.

Time to start saving some dough!

The countdown begins: 66 days to Wii!

boy, it's nice to see that at least one of the "Next-Gen" consoles is keeping its price down in the affordable range. i'm still trying to figure out how to justify the cost of a xbox360 with my wife.......

I genuinely hope the wii sells like crazy. There's something to be said for a company that makes games as intuitive and addicting as Nintendo always has.

And for $250, I'm more interested in this than a PS3 or 360.
