New Wii Remote hits stores

MaxConsole reader Greg has mailed in to let us know that the new stand-alone Wii remote has hit his local Wal-Mart. It includes the new grip on the remote and is now boxed inside blister packaging.

yeah, just like they renewed the strap, they now include every mote with a new grip cover.

check nintendo.com to get a free copy of the grip-cover for all the mote's you allready have..

I don't think I'd even bother keeping the grip cover on. I'd had the Wii since launch and I've yet accidently thrown it across the room. Having said that, I'm sure I'll probably end up throwing one through by television screen by this time tomorrow.

Those new grips make the controller more comfortable. Only problem if you want to use it in your zapper or guitar you have to take the controller condom off.

It's worth noting that Nintendo are offering a free Wiimote grip to anyone willing to fill in a form on their website. Given that you don't even pay for the postage (as far as I'm aware), it's worth trying to see if they're more comfortable.

A friend got hold of one of the remote sleeves the other day and tells me that they are indeed very comfortable. I might go and fill out that form myself, as my Wiimotes take a hell of a beating - especially when a few beers are added to the mix.

I just can't get over the fact that this has happened so many times. I've played Wii Sports high and never once threw the remote across the room. I've fallen down alot, but being high that was the funny part.

I don't think so. I ordered four for free from them and I like them although I don't use them much.
