Waremonger's Work In Progress

Sure enough, the Banjo-Tooie guide was printed in 2000 so that'll have to be put on the back burner for now - but it sure feels like its been more than ten years since that game came out. I shall continue on with Electronic Games Vol. 2 No. 6 (Aug 1983).

Update 06/05/09, 12:30am: Scanning & Editing completed. Mag has been uploaded.

Well, I thought for sure I had Electronic Games Vol. 1 No.1. I had put in a significant bid on it, but alas it was not high enough. It ended up selling for $202.50, which is absolutely ridiculous. Here's the link if anyone is interested:

Talk about dedication! That is cool that you found that. I have been watching various auction sites for mags and didn't even know that was up for auction.

Don't worry, it will probably come around again someday (who knows, we might get a member that has it and is willing to scan it).

You know I ran into the same problem when searching for EGM #1......It kept going for over $100.......finally I got my hands on one for $31 .....scanned it and resold it for $200......then bought another one from Ebay a few months later for $10

Yeah, I was the first bidder. $200 was my limit. I missed it by that much.

WOW! I am not trying to be an idiot, although I am good at it, but it would be funny if the winner was someone that is a member here.

I was planning on scanning it then reselling it so I could get more mags to scan, so I could scan them and resell them so I could get more mags... ^_^ Hopefully whoever did purchase it is a member and is going to scan it so we can all enjoy!

Yeah, I guess it's all in the timing. I'm definitely going to keep looking though. I'm still in shock that someone would pay $200 for a magazine - I thought I was stupid for bidding $80 :)

Initially I was going to post a message that I was bidding on it in case anyone here had also seen it but I was nervous that the seller might see the message (via a search engine) and artificially inflate the price using a friend or something... I guess we'll find out soon enough whether someone on the forum got it.

There is a certain Ebay seller that comes here and watches our ebay deals section for possible issues to purchase so it may be better to not post it in the open forums. Maybe in a PM to members you know are interested in that issue or something? Like you know that kitsune is trying to collect them too. ;)

The thing is, all I want it for now is simply to get it scanned. I know I'd more than likely make my money back, so the money really wasn't an issue. ^_^ No one touched the auction until the last few hours, so I was really hoping that I could have gotten it for the starting price. I am surprised that it went so high, though. I thought I put a bid on it that no one would want to try to surpass. Oh well, there will be other chances. Maybe we will get lucky and the person who bought it will scan it and put it up. ^_^

I thought about announcing it here too, but I decided against it for the same reasons. ^_^

Thank you both for all of the hard work and effort going into this. It is greatly appreciated.

I usually wouldn't start something new without finishing one that I already have in progress but I got a little excited when issue #2 arrived so I started scanning it (almost done). Also, my hands have been really fatigued from work and have been cramping while using the mouse, I'm guessing its the start of Carpal Tunnel from clicking so much at work, and scanning doesn't cause any pain. :-) Mar 82 and Aug 83 will probably be released back-to-back or at the same time.

I'll bet your issue is in better condition than mine. I'll move on to May '82 then. ^_^

Phew, finally finished EG Vol 2. No. 6 (Aug 1983). Next up is Vol. 1 No. 2 (Mar 1982) which I am hoping to have done relatively quickly.

Finally completed Vol. 1 No. 2. Sorry it took so long - I scanned it the day I got it and started editing it as soon as I finished the previous issue but when I got about 80% through editing I had to start working on my days off since we're short-handed at work so I had no time to get it done. I think the quality on that issue is really high as the magazine was in excellent condition. Next up is Vol. 1 No. 4 (Jun 1982)

I scanned this in at the same time I scanned in EG Vol. 1 No. 4 and figured I would sneak this in real quick since it was pretty small and easy. Still editing EG Vol. 1 No. 4 and it shouldn't be much longer. Anyway, from June 1982 comes...

How timely! :-)

I'm finally moved and can get the June 1982 issue of Electronic Games uploaded. I think I still need to finish editing about 10 more pages or so - I was abruptly interrupted by the move and haven't looked at this stuff for quite a while now.

Excellent news indeed! Good to hear.

I am close to getting March 1983 scanning done now that I figured out how to get my ancient scanner working under Windows 7.
