Sega Mega Drive Gets A New Lease On Life

Thanks to C&VG for this one.

Basically, a company is re-releasing the Genesis/Mega Drive and making it region free (really? I thought the original was region free for the most part, at least the early ones). Take a look, apparently, the same company released a handheld version last year some time too.

That's awesome. I wonder what the sound and video output is.

Do you mean how does it hook up to the TV? If so, it probably uses RCA hook ups, Red/Yellow/White plugs like most of those plug and play systems do.

If you mean in general quality output, it is probably running a video refresh at 60 hz.

The original sega genesis had really good sound out of the headphone jack but not the normal audio out. So I'm wodering what kind soud it will have.

From the pic of the system, I don't see any kind of headphone connector so it may be pretty close to the quality you got from the original Genesis/Mega Drive through a TV.
