Wiis Stockpiled for Surprise Release

According to an anonymous poster over at the IGN message boards, a Nintendo representative told him/her and a co-worker that Nintendo is already producing Wii units and has them stockpiled for release.

If this is true, it would be a good move for Nintendo. They have had supply issues this year with the DS lite. Overwhelming demand in Japan is supposedly the reason for the delay of the US launch of the revamped portable.

Plus, Wii will probably be coming out in time for the holidays so Nintendo will need to accomodate for the extra demand that happens around that time of year. If Nintendo can get their Wii into enough people's hands (tee hee ), they may be able to develop a strong costumer base and give their new console a fighting chance.

The more people own a Wii, the more people will buy games and (if it is as fun as they want us to think it is) the system will have good word of mouth to get it off the ground.
