Just bought over 200 magazines

So I just got off of work and was driving through town when I spotted this old gaming store I've seen for years but never been to. The place is a literal hole-in-the-wall, with amateur Dragon Ball Z characters and gaming characters painted onto the walls and glass. I've been stopping into local gaming shops the last few months in the hopes of finding some early magazines to build up references for my various projects so figured I'd give this place a shot.

I wasn't expecting much other than the usual "No, sorry. Don't carry them/they go fast.", but, to my surprise he points out a section of the shop literally stuffed full of magazines. I couldn't even go through them all. There were over 200 magazines with at least 150 uniques. The shop owner says they're $1 a magazine, but then says he just wants to get rid of it all and offers the whole collection for $20. This was something I couldn't pass up.

Geez, for $20 you'd be crazy to pass them up! Excellent catch. There's even lots of scannable stuff in there.

Excellent stuff.

If I were you I'd still scan all the post-2000 stuff after the pre-2000 stuff anyway as as some point the cut-off year will change so having them scanned ahead of time is prudent. The benefit of that is you can still take them and read them on your iPad when holidaying in the Bahama's too :D

Unfortunately I don't have the skills or hardware to scan any of this into the expected standards. However, my goal with this buy was to give something back to RetroMags... I'd be perfectly happy to donate any of this to anyone that would like to scan them as long as they help with the shipping. If there's anything that doesn't require scanning I'll still re-sell it for a good offer. :)

Nice one. Even got a few of the pre-2000 NP that are missing here right?

I didn't know there were any NPs that weren't already scanned.

Pre-2000 Nintendo Power issues missing from downloads:

#090, Nov 1996 (not in your new set either)

#092, Jan 1997 (not in your new set either)

#111, Aug 1998 (you've got 2!)

#113-119, Oct 1998 - Apr 1999 (you're only missing 114)

#121-127, Jun 1999 - Dec 1999 (yours are mostly intact)

That's surprising. I checked if the two pre-issue 100 issues were scanned but honestly didn't expect anything more recent to be missing. If anyone's up to take them just let me know and I'll ship them... Would love to help complete the collection.

Yeah, I figured Nintendo Power was one of those magazines that someone would have. Didn't really expect I'd have the only copies.

Anyways, if there is anything I do have that no one else does feel free to bring it up. I'd like to get most of this off my hands and into those of someone that can do them justice. :D
