My daughters Caterpie evloved to a Metapod!

Recommended Posts

Now I've not done this since I was in kindergarten, but I found a really cool looking caterpillar and decided since my daughter was in kindergarten that I would show her what happens when you cage the larva up. It's a Pipevine Swallowtail and was just a really cool looking caterpillar. Little did I know that it was a real-life Pokemon. Hopefully it's a male because they become a beautiful black and blue butterfly. I grabbed a picture to put on my facebook page but I thought I'd share it here as well.

Really cool pupa stage. All I can recall having in Kindergarten were silk worms, which (while soft and awesome on their own), had a fairly dull, cheetos-puffs-minus-the-color style pupa stage.

It just needs that funny eye and it would be a perfect Metapod. Nice that you teach your daughter about nature.

My daughter's brain is a sponge right now so anything I can shove in there I've been trying. This is one of those things that I think all children should get the experience, I still remember when I was in kindergarten doing that same thing.
