Skeptical Inquirer Magazine Archive

So it's not gaming related, but I was reading one of my back-issues from 2009 and came across an ad at the back for a huge digital archive of 'Skeptical Inquirer,' sold by the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry (CSI) themselves. "How neat," I thought, "it's much like the Dragon Magazine Archive!" It collects every issue of Skeptical Inquirer, plus all the issues of its precursor 'The Zetetic' from 1976-2005, which is twenty-nine years' worth of mags, into a fully-searchable digital archive. How freakin' cool is that?

My jaw dropped when I saw the price at the bottom of the ad: $150.00 US. I decided I'd put acquiring that on the back-burner for a bit.

So today I visited the CSI shop just to see what was new, when what should I see but this:

Exact same thing from three years ago, and $125 cheaper. BAZINGA! Guess who's getting the SI back catalogue for her birthday. *grin*

Just thought I'd point it out to everyone else. That's a hell of a deal. :)

I just got this in the mail a few days ago, and while it's a pretty bare-bones presentation (just a jewel case with a simple insert and the DVD-ROM), it's very well done as far as I've seen. The scans have all been legible, they're in PDF format, arranged by year and then volume in their respective directories, and there's an index file you can import into Adobe Reader that lets you very quickly find articles by searching key words.

Overall, I'm very satisfied. Lots of reading ahead of me. :)
