Free Virtua Fighter Remix for Saturn owners: Proof?

Hi,

many sources on the web state that Sega sent out Virtua Fighter Remix to all registered Saturn owners in the US for free in late 1995. I've been going through some magazines of the time, but so far haven't found any evidence for this. Anyone ever see this announced in a contemporary mag?

I've never saw anything like that in a magazine back in 1995. However, I did buy the Sega Saturn on launch day and received the Virtua Fighter Remix CD when I registered my console. The only literature I read pertaining to that was on the console registration itself. Sega said themselves that they wanted to give all Saturn owners at the time a free copy to justify the outdated look of the original Virtua Figher that came bundled with the system. Virtua Fighter Remix was virtually the same game with updated graphics (with texture mapping versus plain polygons). I still have it to this day. :-)

So was that advertised on the registry form you'd send in, or do you mean a confirmation received afterwards? Meaning, would you know beforehand that you would get a copy for registering, or did that come as a surprise after you registered?

Sega offered it to me on the registration card. They said if I sent in my registration, they would send the Virtua Fighter Remix and bonus other stuff as a registered owner of Sega Saturn. The other stuff were an exclusive demo disc of future games, a nice poster of Saturn games, and some coupons. I haven't registered a new console since then. Modern console purchases don't offer anything of value these days.
