Game Players magazines need re-indexing

I've been going through the Game Players magazine section on the site and the issue numbers on the site are wrong when compared to the actuall issue numbers. The biggest reason this is is because Game Players numbering is a mess because of their jumping around from Nintendo Guide/Sega Guide/regular. It is crazy to actually try and keep track of it, but it seems the site used only the magazines labeled "Game Players" for numbering the issues.

The problem happens when you get to the issues that Game Players numbered themselves, which is based on some weird attributions and includes the Nintendo Guides as official issues. I would like to see the actual issues correctly labeled, though, because having an issue labeled on the site as 55, but it is actually issue 74 makes for some bad indexing.

I have a chart that shows how they got to their internal numbering:

Yeah, Game Players is something of a cluster. Same said for their entire line of magazines, actually - you can find a discussion about their Nintendo Guides here.

As for the numbering - RetroMags uses its own numbering system and can sometimes appear to be inconsistent with the internal numbering of some magazine series. GamePro and Tips & Tricks are also affected, I believe.

Phillyman is working to display internal numbering alongside RetroMag numbering - hopefully the feature will go active soon, as the current system does lead to some confusion.

He or E-Day could probably also explain this further, for that matter. :)

Cheers.

I realize I am new to the site, and that this is a long dead thread (almost 2 years), but it seems to be the only mention of the issue number discrepancy which still exists, at least with GamePro magazine (seems the numbering gets off by 10, but I'm not sure where).

Ex. Issue 113 (feb 1998) is listed on here as 103.

This is a recurring question around here as of late. :)

That should explain what happened with GamePro's numbers. :)

Well, the fact that this question continues to pop up on a regular basis sort of proves that it doesn't work as well as it should. But don't worry about it - no one here is going to get impatient with someone for asking, even if it IS the hundredth time. It's almost comforting in a way, reassuring us that the events of the universe are still unfolding in a natural order..."Ah, I see someone's asked about the GamePro numbers again...<whew>...all is right in the world, and we can sleep peacefully tonight."
