Where do you buy you older systems?

Recommended Posts

There's a little retro games store in a nearby town. It sells consoles at games at reasonable (player-oriented) prices and is the world's most awesome hole in the wall. I need to make another trip there soon.

Luckily I got all my consoles from eBay before the retro game boom. In high school I used to buy and sell lots on eBay or flea markets to get money (and build my collection). I used to spend $20 on an NES, refurb it and sell it for $50, but while browsing consoles I'd snipe a cheap TG16 or Odyssey^2 lot if I could just to expand my horizons. I still have a stack of a few of the crappiest NESs left from those days :)

There are a lot of retro gaming stores popping up all over the place. I have four within 25 mins of my house. I am glad I got a bunch of stuff before it all became popular to have again. Prices are going up for all of these again.

Yard Sales, Flea Markets, Thrift Shops, and the occasional retro store or eBay search for the stuff that's a bit harder to find out in the wild.

I buy my retrogames at www.retrogamingfun.be

I'm Belgian, it's a Belgian shop located not far away from my home.

It has decent prices, especially because I have a 15% discount, because I helped him style the front page of the website shop

I got an snes, psx, genesis and nes with cables at a garage sale for 30 bucks recently.  The nes was brand new, even;  It's a shame the guy took it out of the box.

It depends. If I'm at a garage sale & the price is right, I'll certainly buy them there, but for the most part, I use a local game store for my system purchases. He's been in business for a decade and I've been going to his store since he opened. His prices are pretty close to eBay and they offer the same guarantee.

Living in a PAL region and collecting NTSC means I mostly have to rely on eBay, Yahoo! Auctions Japan, and forum trading sections.  Once in a while I'll manage to score something locally.
