GEnie online service


GEnie (General Electric Network for Information Exchange) was a text-based online service that ran from 1985 through 1999.  As the first major competitor to CompuServe, it was one of the main players in early online service development before eventually being eclipsed by the World Wide Web and other services like AOL.
