Super Sushi Pinball (April, 1990) (canceled)

Areala

"Super Sushi Pinball" was planned for release by CSG Imagesoft, who spent over a million dollars in production costs and marketing (including the tagline, "Finally, a game that tastes as good as it plays!"), only to have Nintendo refuse to certify it for a US release (despite coming out in Japan as Super Pinball). No known prototypes of the US version have been found. The game was demoed at the 1990 Winter CES. Apparently to little acclaim, given what the January 1990 issue of the Computer Entertainment newsletter had to say about it:

CSG Imagesoft had SUPER SUSHI PINBALL on display again, a game which could find itself lost in the sea of pinball simulations planned for 1990.

Ouch.

Frank Cifaldi located this old solicitation piece for it, leading some people to question exactly how much a pinball game could teach North American gamers about Japanese culinary habits, but until/unless a prototype board can be found for preservation, I suppose we'll never know...such is life. :)
