  2. I had this. Nice to see some of the "we can't license any official images" era of strategy guides on this site. I also had the BradyGames guide which was slightly better since it didn't devote tons of page space to a bunch of GamePro-ass comic book people. Also this guide refers to a Shy Guy as a "ghost Koopa".

  7. This is a great cover. "We can't use the real logo, the hat, the overalls, so I figured we can use just Mario's eyes! Everybody knows Mario's eyes when they see it."

  9. Hi there! I appreciate the upload, you've made my life a lot easier while I've been working on one of the wikis for the .hack series. Your comment in the description helped me notice the weird numbering and I think I've finally figured why the numbering is the way it is. It seems that different volumes of .hack//G.U. The World were released under different Magazines, all of which were published by Kadokawa. I only noticed it thanks to the Kadokawa website's product pages, which I've included in the links below for each respective volume. #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #7, #9, and #11 were under Monthly Asuka (コンプティーク) #6 and #10 were under Comptiq (コンプティーク) #8 and #12 were The Sneaker (ザ・スニーカー) Hope this helps!

  10. Nah, screw those people! The true pizza party was the copy of Chrono Trigger that I got from that store.

  11. This is pretty awesome. I worked at Funco in November of 1995 so I'm remembering some of these games and their prices. Special commission for every copy of Genesis Monopoly that you sell, Mike! Gotta get those numbers, Mike! DON'T YOU WANT A FUCKING PIZZA PARTY AT THE END OF THE MONTH MIIIIIKEEE!!?!?!

  14. Yeah, it's a shame that version (PlayStation) wasn't released. I would've bought it from GameStop and played it myself.

  15. I see the DATA EAST Collection 1 there, is the game call joe & mac cavaman ninja on the cartridge? That was my favourite games I played a lot on the ARCADE when I was a childhood.

  30. The last physical issue of Video Watchdog, produced in 2017. Digital versions of this issue were given away for free on VideoWatchdog.com for anyone to download; physical copies were made available for a flat $20 (or $25 outside the US). Subscribers received a physical copy signed in silver ink on the inside back cover by magazine editors Tim and Donna Lucas.

  32. Hands down the game that I've dumped more time into than any other. Supremely fun for a nine year old who was into DragonLance novels. Thanks for sharing!

  35. I had this. It was better than the Prima guide, which spent most of their page space on these dumb comic book characters and had a terrible layout.

  36. Ironically, the "adult" in "adult PC games" hasn't been a necessary inclusion since the time this mag was published, since it was the very late 90s/early 2000s that saw the almost complete death of PC gaming in Japan, from which point onward "PC game" became completely synonymous with "eroge." (Something I learned awkwardly after some students asked if I played video games and I replied that I mostly played PC games - cue fits of hysterics)

  37. Fixed this one for you, since it didn't require much work. Btw, don't ever upload PNG files. Save them as jpgs. Your PNG was over 3MB, which is much too large for a gallery image. After cleaning it up and saving it at the same size as a jpg, the size is only 700kB.

  39. YESSSS!! This issue is on my 'Holy Grail' list of magazines to one day acquire. I somehow overlooked this one, since it came out several months after Tomb Raider II was already on store shelves, and missed picking it up back in the day. If it winds up preserved here, I'll be thrilled beyond belief.

  42. I swear, if I find out there's some kind of underground 'Strip Mahjong' circuit over in Japan, I'm going to completely lose my mind. How did 'matching tiles' and 'nudity' wind up going together so easily for these people? Is it codified into law somewhere?
