  1. I believe this is because the database considers Game Players to be a continuation of Game Player's (note the apostrophe), which is not true. Game Players is a numbered continuation of what started life as Game Player's Strategy Guide to Nintendo Games, which standard vanilla Game Player's folded into.

  2. You know what? This got me thinking... it may not have been the internet itself that killed the gaming magazines after all. It was... the GAMES THEMSELVES. Think about it. As pmo1985 points out, games back then were often improved with a guide (whether on a first or subsequent playthrough is a matter of taste, of course), but games now? They practically hold your hand from beginnning to end. I can't recall the last guide I bought out of any sort of necessity or desire. Probably FF12 on ps2.

  3. The logo something never seems get complaints. It's usually opposite, like I made the GamePro Retronaags logo. That was loved! Anyhow, marktrade, let know how your patreon experiment goes

  4. Chiming in here to say I have been culling ads from the magazines posted here for the past year, and I've got WAY more than what the gallery currently holds. The bottleneck to posting them here is re-sizing everything. Even with the batch function, it takes forever to do it, and even longer to upload since I have a very slow DSL connection (about 15k/sec upload speed). Along the way as I've been collecting the ads, I've also been making sure to find the best-looking copy of each ad, so it's not uncommon for me to have gone through 3-4 copies of the same ad looking for the best resolution, smallest amount of bleed through, sharpest lines, etc... When it comes time, I almost wish we could wipe out the current ad database and start over with me using the batch uploader here at Retromags to dump everything on the server while I'm at work, or not watching lesbian porn sleeping. Seems a shame to wreck all that hard work though, so maybe a file-by-file basis would be easier. *huggles* Areala

  5. I think it is only because no one has see this yet, people raise a stink about everything around here. I am just suprised you got away with changing the logo without complaints that we didnt turn the the A into a Star of David and put a Dashiki on the T.

  6. This really is a great book. Pretty light on the Japanese gaming scene, but for what it is it's great.

  7. Hello. I just want to chime in and say that I think the download system put into place is more than fair. I have been downloading old mags from here since 2007 or so, and being able to put them on my iPad makes train rides a lot more bearable! I've donated in the past, and when I'm in a better place financially, I hope to donate again. I admit that I'm not very active in the community; maybe I can change that. I'm a lurker on most of my favorite sites, but who knows? Anyway, this got away from me. I don't think I'd find the download restrictions oppressive even if I wasn't a patron; I rarely download more than three or four magazines in any given visit. Big thanks to Phillyman and everyone else who works hard to keep this site up and keep these great memories alive.
