  1. I hope so. Besides, the way I figure it, they can always re-edit my results to alter the subtler things right? And besides, no one else is stepping up, and I would like to see all the GP and UGP preserved. I've already snagged GP80u, so we'll see how long it takes me to get through that before I make any kind of commitment to the rest.

  2. It's true that some of us lavish perhaps a bit too much attention on our scans. Technically, so long as they're readable, the main purpose of preservation has been served. Personally, I would never want someone else editing my scans - even though it takes longer, if I'm going to destroy one of my mags by scanning it, I want to also be the one to edit it so I can guarantee that I'll be completely happy with the results. That said, I'm guessing anyone comfortable with allowing other people to edit their scans isn't going to be too picky with the results, so you should be fine with the basic adjustments you mentioned.

  3. I'd like to share my process for editing magazines. I use Photoshop CS6 inside a VM Workstation 12. I like using the VM Workstation because if my power goes out or something goes pear shape with my computer, the workstaton remembers everything the way it was, even on a different computer. It's also a good way to multitask my day to day stuff without having retromags stuff in the way. So I have been editing Marktrade's raw scans which he made available on archive org. I've made 3 videos of me working with the scans inside Photoshop that may or may not be helpful. I start by dragging a page with alot of text to make my template. I plumb it and line two corners up with the desktop. With rulers on and set to pixels I resize the image while holding shift so the width is between 1600 and 1700 pixels. I crop the desktop to fit the page plus a couple pixels on each side. I then drag another high text page onto desktop and resize it. This time I pay attention to the percent it takes to resize it to my template plus a pixel or two on each side. Now I drag all the raw pages onto the desktop. I hide all but one layer and then select all the layers in the layer panel. I press Ctrl + T and then enter the percent needed for all the layers. I run a script that rasterizes all layers http://www.mediafire.com/file/rv63nv3d71rya8a/Raterize+all+layers.jsx Now I start from the first layer and only worry about plumbing the image and centering it on the desktop. No editing yet. Everything is plumb and in my layers and saved to one file. I can work away at this a few pages at a time. I use Healing brush alot. Normal mode when I can and replace when I'm close to the edge of the page or edges within the artwork. How do you all do it?

  4. Yes, that's right. Get in and get you're hands dirty that's the only way you will learn.

  6. - Nintendo needs to get some new developers who have freedom to design. Working for Nintendo is like working in somebody elses grandparents house which has a strange odor and their family messes around with you're lifes work. In other words Nintendo tells me what to do and I do it so nothing ever evolves. - Yes I would have bought a Switch if they gave me better graphics - Nvidia gave Nintendo a deal on lube. - Switch will sell 3 million 1st month then nothing all year - By Christmas Nintendo will be so scared that they will lower the price - By 2018 Nintendo will announce a new console - If they dont restructure, they will lay off thousands or sell games on other systems.

  7. All sixteen issues of Games International are now online along over at OGM with all six issues of Strategy Plus. Once again, hats off to marktrade for the excellent scans. Man, I'm looking forward to getting the next shipment of Computer Games: Strategy Plus issues from Cameron. Once my visitors leave on the 4th I'll be able to hook the scanner back up again and get to work on the two issues still sitting on my desk.

  8. If this is allowed, I know how to connect with others through a sega genesis emulator, snes, and n64 using netplay, it's pretty easy to do and I'm always down for some oldschool goodness.
