  1. Bionic Commando frustrated me to no end, because I just could NOT get the hang of using the bionic arm to swing around instead of having a Jump button. But then, one day, I picked up the game again and suddenly everything just clicked.

That has happened to me with so many games, especially Sega ones.

You wouldn't believe how many people would try them and just can't handle them so they turn away and never come back.

It actually happened when I finally got my Saturn due to reading how Ed Lomas and the rest of the CVG crew were in love with NiGHTS, Sega Rally, Virtua Fighter Megamix etc.

Bought mine when they bundled 2 games with it and I got the shop owner to give me Sega Rally and just released Virtua Fighter Megamix instead of another year old game! :Yahooo:

Took it home and played it all night, but just couldn't get the hang of either games.

Couldn't do a basic one-two combo in VF Megamix and my Sega Rally racing style took on the form of a pinball machine in the way I kept on slamming my car from one side of the road into the other and back again.

Went to bed thinking how I might have thrown away a good chunk of money on a system with games that were not as good as I had read about.

Woke up in the morning and went back to try again.

For some unexplainable reason the games clicked with me that day and I fell in love with the Sega style of gaming.

To this day Sega Rally 1995 is still my favourite racing game of all time and the VF series is still my favourite 3D fighting series. :)

Ever since we moved out of the café 16 years ago, I always wanted to have an arcade cabinet again.

But more like an astro cab or candy cab which would let me play all kinds of JAMMA games. :)

Oh, and so nice to see Puzzle de Pon!

It's one of my favourite games ever!

Still love Puzzle Bobble 2 (Bust-A-Move 2) on PSone the most for it's awesome and series exclusive 100 level Time Attack mode.

But I like Puzzle de Pon even more as a multiplayer game. So awesome, yet unknown.

  3. Been having a Dreamcast week over here.

Playing lots and I mean lots of Carzy Taxi. Once I stop I just can't put it down. One of the best arcade games ever in my opinion.

Also been playing Gigawing 2 which I didn't like at all when I first got it back in the day.

But after switching off the "Refurekuto foosu" voice and learning to play the game unlike most shooters and even unlike Gigawing 1, I really love it now.

Under Defeat. What can I say? Classic shooter all the way. So simple in concept, yet perfectly executed. Some of the best graphics on DC to top it all off.

Cosmic Smash: Only got this game a couple months back. Wanted it for so long but the price held me back.

Sometimes you just have to say "the hell with it" and bite the bullet. Wonderful arcade game.

Gonna try to get back into Daytona USA 2001 as well soon as it's been too long since I last played it. Same goes for F355. Such a perfect game that is. Yu Suzuki is a gaming genius.

  4. Bought the expansion pack for Crash Commando on PSN last night.

2 new levels and now 6 selectable characters.

Coupled with the weapon tweaks and better bot AI and other adjustments make this one a great update in my book!

Wiggling my butt while wearing a french maid outfit in a room with 11 other men has never been this much fun.

Well, besides that one time at the beach with those sailors, where we..... eum never mind that. :bag:

  5. Be sure to get Fearless with Jet Li. It's so much better than the cut down DVD version.

The bluray has the 3 different cuts of the movie on there of which the longest uncut version is the best by far.

Such a wonderful looking film as well in HD. :)

  6. So what kind of arrangement are you hammering out? You are up to something with Steve Harris. That comment didn't leave much as far as "reading between the lines". It was rather blatant, which is unusual coming from you!

/insert MASTER OF POINTING OUT THE OBVIOUS THAT ISN'T OBVIOUS ENOUGH.gif

Anyway, it's been years since I bought EGM myself as they took quite the turn for the worst somewhere after the DC died. Kept buying it for a while hoping it would return to it's former glory but it just got worse and worse and worse.

I hope Steve can put together a great team that doesn't resemble today's wannabe "hardcore gamers" but respects every single platform out there and actually understands them, without having a preconceived opinion on it, if you know what I mean.

pssssssst E-Day, I think the I was hinting at the Wii there, just to make sure everyone was on the same page.

  7. Thank you. :)

The only problem is that it takes too much time to get them to look this way.

Other magazines aren't such a problem it seems from tests I've been doing with CVG and Mean machines for instance.

Since they use lots of colored backgrounds it's much easier to clean up overall then when you have a yellowed white one or a faded black one you'd want to restore.

In the case of Mean machines for instance it doesn't look like I will be able to restore the black or white parts of the pages to their pristine new condition as it looks very out of place with the rest of the magazine. And it seems that it's more or less the same with CVG from between 1996-1999.

Not sure if it's the paper used, the use of colored pages, the way certain magazines preserve better than others or what.

Probably a combination of all these factors.

So even though the other mags I'll be scanning in later won't look as incredible as the OSSM series (only speculating at this point), I will make them look as good as my editing abilities will allow me. Which is pretty much the only thing I can do.

Not sure if you've read CVG magazines from the Paul Davies are, but if you haven't, you're in for a very, very pleasant surprise, especially if you like Maximum and OSSM as much as I do. Those were neck and neck for overall quality. And the way they all were written made you not only understand how much fun these guys were having, but also made you feel like you somehow knew them. God I miss that writing style, and more specifically those people.

  8. Rapidshare has been really good for me. I've been using it it and have a premium account for over 2 years now and never was there anytime where it was down or something like that.

Very fast downloads+reliable is what I needed, so I stick with it.

  9. Finally a new Official Sega Saturn Magazine scan!

Been a while and progress was extremely slow once I got back to editing again, but I'm slowly starting to pick up where I left off.

Now lets just hope my editing skills haven't degraded too much since last time.

And that all the retard pills* I needed to take haven't impaired my judgement too much. ;)

    As always: enjoy!

*Retard pills are the actual ones I had to take in the hospital, and yes I know what it means in french. :P

  10. The only RTS game that I ever fell in love with was Dune 2 on the MegaDrive.

Still haven't found another one that I liked so much. Although Starcraft seems to come close.

Perhaps I'm gonna have to hunt down a copy soon that runs on OS X.

oh and sign me up for the sports game hate camp. Anything but crazy stuff like Mario Strikers or Mutant League Hockey I don't care for. Unless it's Wii Sports, but that's a whole different beast.

  11. I am a firm believer you should buy things that you would like to see more of...even if it is a retro game like the original LoZ.

Indeed, that's what I've been saying from the start of the VC. Bought Sin & Punishment even though I own the Japanese N64 game. and now we're getting a sequel thanks to it's sales.

Bought every single NeoGeo game even though I already had them on AES, and we also got the SNK Arcade Collection which included even Shock Troopers and Neo Turf Masters. Which I also have on as conversion on AES, but it's nice to have an official version as well even though the conversion carts were made from all official parts.

  12. I can't wait for Mario Kart, Smash Brothers, Donkey Kong 64 and Yoshi's Island to be released. I would buy those right away.

Isn't Smash Bros out already on the N64? I could have sworn it was released, at least in Europe.

Haven't bought many VC games as of late. Been disappointed with how few VC Arcade games have come out. I thought we'd get one a week at least.

That being said, I'll buy Mario Kart and Yoshi's Island whenever they show up.

  13. Yet again a thread perfect for Fat Bastard!

I want my baby back baby back baby back baby back baby back baby back ribs. *Chili's* Baby back ribs.

Well, listen up, sonny Jim: I ate a baby. Oh, aye, Baby: the other, other white meat. Baby: it's what's for dinner.

  14. hehe, last couple of trophies? I still don't have a single one. :)

The only problem is always the time zone difference.

But seeing as I have 4-5 weeks of vacation I need to catch up and I still have another sick week next week, it shouldn't be much of a problem get together once in a while. :D

  15. Eum I think you guys are missing the joke. :)

The game itself is called Shatter and hasn't got anything to do with either William Shatner, Star Trek or Bob Dylan.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoZFjiEugww

Someone on a totally unrelated site from the actual developers made a spoof using the above title as their basis.

In the end the actual developer of the game, who did nothing wrong got a C&D letter because some idiot lawyer thought it was real and was the actual game they put out.
