  1. Here's a cover featuring LEGO City: Undercover for March 2013 / issue 288. I wanted to do a LEGO-style NP logo, but I couldn't get it to look right, so I stuck with the normal logo instead. This cover is more-or-less done in the style of the early Future US newsstand editions. Basically it's a cross between the final Nintendo/V-Design covers (which I plan to base April's cover on) and the final Future US newsstand covers (which I already used for the February cover). Enjoy!
  2. Thanks. Hopefully I'll have time to continue doing these. Definitely looking forward to next month's...
  3. Here's one for February 2013 / issue 287. This one took a lot longer and didn't turn out exactly like I hoped, but I'm pretty happy with the result anyway. I used the newsstand edition style from late 2007 to 2012 but used the new Future logo which only appeared on the final issue (285). FYI, the debris in the air is in the original artwork.
  4. Here's an alternate version of the January 2013 cover. The black line I had between the logo and the artwork looked awkward so I found a bit more character art and managed to merge it in pretty well.
  5. Hi all. I'm planning on putting together fan covers for Nintendo Power each month this year since no more real covers will be made and this year is the magazine's 25th anniversary. Anyone else interested in doing something like this? I was thinking about doing covers that relate to the current and upcoming releases, but do different months in the different cover styles the magazine used over the years. I haven't done anything like this before, but I think I did alright putting together a January 2013 cover in the style of the late-2008 to 2012 subscriber editions. The image this is based on came from here: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wiiu/software/img/game_and_wario/main.png
  6. midnightaaron: PM sent Schloss Ritter: I swear something about those trading cards just demanded they be torn out. Not a single one of my Super Power Club cards remained in the magazines, but most of them went directly into the official books for them so that was sort of okay. My only regret now is that I don't know which ones came from which issues, but I've managed to gather some info about that from other copies of the same issues.
  7. Hi everybody! I've been thinking about putting together a reference for some uncommon Nintendo Power info including which issues were sent out sealed, what the bonus items were with sealed issues, if both subscriber and newsstand versions were sealed, differences between subscriber and newsstand versions, which next-to-last and last-issue warning notices were included with which issues, and so on. In addition to putting the reference online (if it comes together well), I plan to scan things like the old catalogs, renewal-related materials (forms and envelopes mostly), and other odds and ends associated with the magazine that I've accumulated. So, if anyone in the community here is interested in contributing to this kind of reference I would definitely appreciate all the help I can get. My ancient (and ongoing) subscription to NP certainly provides some information, and eBay has been useful over the past year for gathering information about many sealed issues and renewal warnings, but there's still a long way to go. I'll probably go poking around on some other forums in the future to dig around for as much information as possible, but I thought Retromags was a good place to bring this up first since folks here are likely to have substantial magazine collections and this is also definitely a good place to be for any project related to magazine scanning. Thanks.
