  1. This is the greatest thing I've ever seen
  2. Ooh I just saw this thread. Thank you! Certainly beats paying to ship stuff across the world from Yahoo Auctions
  3. Huge thanks Kitsu & ccovell. These old ones are really difficult to get hold of.
  4. I started this last year but it's turned into a ridiculously huge undertaking You can click on the publication to see all the games they reviewed, click on the issue to see games in that issue, or click on the game itself to see which mags reviewed it, etc Haven't really done any American mags though. All UK stuff.
  5. I did that on a local/offline php site just for my own use, it's a really handy feature! Other plans are to add some filter controls, so you can display just mags for a certain country, publisher, system, etc
  6. Wasn't going to post again about it, but now I've had a chance to read some of that special Super Play issue, it's so great I just had to. Obviously Wil Overton drew the cover art, but they also got back the original writers, and the page layout inside looks so authentic I wouldn't be surprised if they dug out the original QuarkXPress project files. Colours, fonts, everything is spot on. It's 52 pages which didn't sound a lot, but considering the lack of advert pages, content wise it feels close to a full length mag. There's a feature on the Classic, and the beginnings of the SFC/SNES and Super Play itself, a preview of Star Fox 2 (no official review due to an NDA, they say), an interview with Dylan Cuthbert (Star Fox 2), an Anime World feature, 20 full reviews of the rest of the SNES Classic games (1 or 2 pages each), 5 smaller 'Import' reviews of the extra SFC Classic games, and a What Cart special of the games they wished had also made it onto the system. Highly recommended. I still can't get over how Nintendo didn't include Pilotwings, though.
  7. Thanks for the heads up! I just ran to the shops and picked one up (actual old school physical shops for that authentic Super Play experience). Bit annoyed it costs £4.99 including shipping online, but found in the shop it's £5.99! They don't even fetch it off the shelf for you.
  8. The SD2 has other advantages too, eg the MSU-1 thing and faster loading. It's obviously the one to have if money is no object but just thought I'd point out you can save a fair bit and still play the same stuff with the Everdrive version.
  9. Well good luck, it's been that way for what, 6 years now? And SA-1 was taken off the todo list a while ago, it's now on 'to be determined' whatever that means. For the difference in price, you can buy a lot of the SA-1 and SuperFX games on cart to play now. (I would say you can buy a SNES Classic but, well, Nintendo...)
  10. It can't run all the games that are on the SNES Classic, mind. (Kirby Super Star, Star Fox 1 & 2, Super Mario RPG, Yoshi's Island) I got the SNES Everdrive instead because it was half the price and runs mostly everything the other one does.
  11. I can't believe somebody is essentially paying you to take those mags. Madness.
  12. Sort of related; I was just reading N64 Magazine and they have a feature on Japanese mags. There's Famimaga 64, TV Gamer, Dengeki Nintendo 64, and The 64 Dream, with brief interviews with the editors, etc. One paragraph talks about what we mentioned above, about page count and adverts: "...what first strikes you is the size of the things. The leanest example here weighs in at 118 pages, and 'The 64 Dream' tips the scales at an Arnie-challenging 164 pages. How Japanese publishers are able to provide this apparent value for money (with the previously-stated proviso concerning overall quality) is not immediately apparent. None of the mags here are subsidised, paper and printing costs in Japan are extortionate, and, perhaps more surprisingly, in-publication advertising is minimal." The mag is Issue 7, Oct 1997, p74-78 if anyone wants to check out the whole thing. You can grab it at Kiwi's site or OoPA.
  13. Yes. I just bought my first issue, 465, and was surprised how big it is. 238 pages and it must be the thickest mag I own. I assumed that being a weekly pub it would be tiny! Plus there's a lot more packed onto every page than English mags due to the typically busy Japanese design.
  14. Meanwhile on eBay UK, $26 for one issue :/ http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170947549788
  15. I have mags with the wrong issue number printed on the front
  16. Some mags that use Vol X No X may miss out a number here and there, so that the number still matches the month. Think GameFan did it for example. So you have no way of knowing if there's a missing issue or not. Numbering them all would fix that, but as you say there's no way of knowing 100% if you're getting it right so it can cause more confusion. Game Players' entire output is a bloody mess.
  17. A few 'new' pics of Radio Flyer in this it looks like https://www.unseen64.net/2010/01/24/radio-flyer-snes-cancelled/
