  1. Chess Wars: A Medieval Fantasy An DOS game released from WizardWorks in 1998. It's like battle chess with live action FMV fights. Try to find it referenced anywhere online. It's pretty obscure.
  2. Yep, Thor, we get almost everything over here about a day after you do. We got the first batch of snow and freezing rain early Sunday morning. I was fun driving around delivering newspapers Kinda like driving on a frozen lake. I was tired of it by this morning though. And meppi, we're having high winds here too. Gusts up to 50 MPH.
  3. For any system not yet supported by MESS, this is a good reference site for other emulators: http://nonmess.retrogames.com/
  4. About a year ago, I ran across a game called Kitten Cannon. I found it again here: http://www.burststudio.com/kitten.html I was reminded of it while playing Cat Fling here in the Retromags Arcade. Is it possible to add in Kitten Cannon - it's a bit more brutal, but I see you liked Cat Fling, Phillyman.
  5. And I've still got the first 12 issues in great condition since I back-ordered them around issue 24 and have only flipped through them a few times. Issues 13-24 though, yeah you don't want to know the condition of those, heh. I've got more tape than binding holding the SMB3 guide together.
  6. Did the original poster even stick around long enough to read any of these responses?
  7. I've decided to give up on Romancing SaGa for now. I can't even get either of the old partial translation patches from www.romhacking.net (formerly donut.parodius.com) to work at all (they lock up on New Game). I recently learned some of the Japanese alphabets from Project LRNJ, Wikipedia, and other sources, but I can't even read the menus, etc without slogging through a lengthy cross-referencing process. There's even a couple reference guides on gamefaqs, but it's still way slow going. Hopefully the latest attempt at a translation is actually finished some day; otherwise, I'll be stuck trying to find the PS2 remake. I'm trying to get through the original versions of the Square and Enix games though. Ah well, next up is Dragon Warrior/Quest IV then V, and then the Super Famicom Final Fantasy V, the granddaddy of fan translation projects.
  8. Heya Thor, I've been to Lacrosse once or twice. I used to live in Baraboo, WI for many years.
  9. I was so glad to see StarTropics on that list. I played through that game over a dozen times in a few years just because of the awesomely zany storyline. And Clash at Demonhead was one of those random games my parents got me back in the day because they thought I might think it was cool. It was fun but frustratingly hard for me at times.
  10. Not as much of a delay as it once would have been. They've grown much more efficient in localizations over the years.
  11. I've lost count of how many times I played the original since it came out, but it's been a while since I played it last though. I'm currently working my way through the whole franchise in order of original release. My last finish was FF Legend III (yeah SaGa I know). Next up for me is Romancing SaGa then FF V.
  12. Just thought I'd let you know about an error on the NP 1989 page (id 14886) at Transexual-Underground. The images are from the 1988 page (issues 1-3).
  13. Hey all. I can't remember how I got here, but it had something to do with checking out Cowering's Goodtools leading to here leading to Gay-Porn (which I'd like to be a part of, but I need an invite it seems). I originally got in to console gaming way back as a youngster with my family's Atari 2600. When I finally got a NES for Christmas, I was hooked for life. I begged for a subscription to Nintendo Power, like my friend had, to keep up with the latest on games. My first issue was the first of their third year (Vol 13 - the SMB3 guide), and later I renewed to get the first 4 Player's Guides for free. I also back ordered issues 1-12 to complete my collection to that point. I also have a few non NP magazines/guides that looked interesting at the time. Later on I acquired a gameboy and finally bought myself a SNES with money from my first job. I stopped getting NP after issue 60 for lack of time/money/interest. I had gotten my first computer and gotten heavily in to keeping up with the latest software and games/guides for that. I have have as many or more computer games and guides than my original console collection. Once I discovered the internet, online faqs, and emulation, I stopped buying printed guides. A few years ago, I also traded my neglected Nintendo systems and games for a brand new PS2 and a couple games. I still have most of my magazine collection, which in good shape. Issues 13-24 of NP are heavily worn from heavy usage, issue 49 went mysteriously missing years ago, and a few issues are damaged from meddling nephews and nieces - a couple torn (or nearly shredded) pages and a missing back cover. Also, my Mario Mania Player's guide was torn apart and tossed, but for some strange reason I still have page 167-8. I've been meaning to recollect issue 49, the damaged NPs, and Mario Mania for years but never have gotten around to searching. I was thinking I could get some leads here or at Gay-Porn.
