  1. I don't do anything but CIB any more. Sure, it keeps my collection size down, but the game just don't feel complete to me without them.
  2. Didn't buy these since I already have one or more, but here's some interesting ended Vectrex listings: Typically goes for over $1000, so someone got a slight deal here: Ebay Item #251107730805 Probably helped that this (incomplete) set was listed at around the same time - it's usually rare enough to find one up for sale: Ebay Item #271013998755 Then there's extra joyticks that normally go for over $100 due to the low number produced. These actually went for much less, again likely due to very rare concurrent sales... Ebay Item #221068672294 Ebay Item #261067201024 I already have the carrying case but not the dust cover. Wonder if they'd be willing to just sell that separately: Ebay Item #261066737111 Anyone wanting to jump in with both feet (and an arm and a leg, etc) into retro collecting? Check out this $12,000 sale! Ebay Item #320937098122
  3. $5 for Golf? Last time I saw that in person, it was like worth 50 cents, heh.
  4. TGL: Yes, I decided to give it a shot one day and was instantly hooked. FF6: Hopefully we at least get 5&6 on the 3DS, like has been rumored for some time. Battletoads: hm, still too difficult in spots for me, but making it easier to draw more players would tick off the hardcore fans. Sierra: Yes, yes yes. Too bad Vivendi has been just squatting on the rights for a decade or so... well better that than what they did to the LSL name, not only squatting but also shatting.
  5. Nope, it's not you. Some of the images were lost or at least links were broken in one of the previous forum updates.
  6. At least it's better than the XBox style 8-way pad where it's difficult *not* to move diagonally when you want to push straight over, heh. This is a real problem when emulating old 2D games where accidentally pushing up or down a bit makes you crouch or jump when you don't want to.
  7. CGR's On This Day In Gaming - July 7 [1987], Metal Gear Released Feel free to add your own from any source as the dates come up.
  8. Is this a parody of Digital: A Love Story? http://scoutshonour.com/digital/
  9. I just renewed my Game Informer last month and got my new issue last week. Can't say why you're not getting one, except that there's sometimes a delay right when you renew if you wait until the last minute.
  10. I haven't seen that one either. I wonder if it's a Fairchild Channel F pirate, as that was the first cart based system to be out in the "mid '70s"...
  11. Hm, I swear I created a topic for these already somewhere... or maybe that's another forum I'm thinking of, heh.
  12. That's what I was going to mention also. Even though I was around when this system was out, I didn't really know about it until relatively recently. I've got one and much of the official releases (including the 3D Viewer ones) but am still looking for a decent deal on a complete-in-box Light Pen when I have more money to spare. Too bad the market crash of '83 killed the system before it really had a chance. Vector/polygon graphics were set behind by at least 10 years after this, until the first affordable 3D accelertor cards came along for PCs (though they are admittedly still outputting raster instead of vector signals) and flash vector animation came along in the late 90s.
  13. I knew it was coming, despite everyone who was telling me it wasn't. Oh, and I don't mind the lack of 2nd analog, as that's what the touch screen is for. It's not like that many games are going to support dual analog anyway.
  14. Oh, the irony of mainstream media finally taking video games seriously not that long before the industry crashed.
  15. Areala Double Dribble: oh yes, my friends and I played the heck out of that back then. Unfortunately, it's become a forgotten gem since that era. I could also argue for Blades of Steel on the same grounds of being able to use full teams and the early use of cinematic sequences. No Myst?! I could have sworn that I saw it there, or maybe I was just assuming it was. Sure, the series strayed into being called overrated for a time, but to write it off completely or forget it just because The Sims later took the crown of casual king? Strange. Centipede was fun, but never really my favorite game from the era. My young mind was actually overwhelmed by its complexity compared to some contemporaries. As for Defender, for some reason I never even ran across that one back then. I did play a number of clones or stripped down ripoffs though. Asteroids, Space Invaders, and Pac-Man were more heavily cloned than those, however, and I think inspiring imitators may have played a role in the selection process. Burger Time - heh, I actually played that one a lot too, but never was very good at it. I think it helped inspire my later love for Dig Dug and Mr. Do. Final Fantasy VII - oh yes, I once refused to play this due to the excessive hype it got (and still gets in some circles). Now, I've tempered my hate, thanks to watching a good Let's Play of it on Youtube, but I agree FF4&6 will always have a bigger spot in my heart. I played through FF4 (as FFII on the SNES) more times than almost any other game, and my best friend's sister and I even voice acted through the whole thing at least twice.
  16. I don't know the game, but cool find. You might want to scan and share that on the replacementdocs.com site, as well.
  17. Yeah, I don't consider myself as really owning the full game unless I have the box, manual, etc, as well.
  18. Not very many people... which makes them more rare and collectible, heh.
  19. I must report that despite knowing the ending from playing the original (or perhaps because I worked myself up knowing what was coming), I actually had tears stinging my eyes during the credits to the Dragon Quest IV remake on the DS. I also can't forget the ending to Dawn of Mana, despite the hate the unconventional gameplay gets from fans of earlier games in the series. What the hero has to do in the end to save the world is quite heartbreaking.
  20. "93. Star Wars: Tie Fighter" How the mighty have fallen. That was considered the #1 PC game of all time on at least one list in the mid 90s. Doesn't help that the Flight Sim genre is all but dead nowadays... Wish I had the patience to even read through the whole list. Did a search for a couple Sierra titles (ie. King's Quest) but found those sadly completely absent. In fact, 59. Maniac Mansion II: Day of the Tenacle, is the only classic Adventure game I'm even noticing, likely due to that genre also being currently pretty much dead as well.
  21. What the heck? I finally decided to pick up the Spore pack with the expansions (despite having the original game on disc already), and noticed there was about an hour left on the deal. But, as soon as I logged in and went back to the page, the deal was nowhere to be found
