It's not an ideal solution, but sometimes the adage 'any port in a storm' is all too accurate.

Did anyone ever read this as a kid? I'd get it when I'd visit Ireland on vacation, and by god it was so raw and undisciplined I couldn't help but love it. It just gave NO hoots about its presentation. God's sake, they even did a half page review on tea biscuits! They also would let fans submit fan-game ideas, which I thought was a pretty cool idea.

Well, that's a bummer. I had a full run from 1991 to 1994, but I gave them all away a long time ago, and those years when Tokuma Shoten worked on the magazine were always my favorite. Nintendo really could stand to recognize that sometimes, fan preservation and fan creations can help your IPs, not hurt them.
