  1. OK this is my favorite strategy guide of all-time. Bought it back in 1992 when I got my Super NES, Zelda: A Link to the Past & Pilotwings from a local Funcoland. (remember them??) Still have it, and I will never part with it despite it slightly falling apart at the binding.
  2. HELL YEAH!! ...said in a Stone Cold Steve Austin sorta way
  3. Since I am a degenerate StarCraft fan I am required to give this issue a like.
  4. I'm pretty sure this is the first gaming magazine cover I've ever seen that has FREE WATER PISTOL on the cover. Random, yet oddly intriguing.
  5. Good about this guide: I owned it and it is a very good guide even today. Bad about this guide: Ugh this is one of the guides I used to frequently shrink-wrap and tag during lonely days in the backroom working at Electronics Boutique.
  6. I had forgotten how bad the old Tampa Bay Buccaneers "creamsicle orange" uniforms were.
  7. I've downloaded this book and checked it out, and a lot of the contents of this book are still relevant even today. The only things that perhaps aren't are the software tools, since it's been 26 years since then and the tools used have obviously evolved, and the various source ports which can go well beyond the limits of the original DOOM engine, which of course would not be mentioned in this book due to it's age.
  8. I miss the Sony PSP. I was never really into handheld consoles, but the PSP was the exception and I got my enjoyable hours out of it.
  9. Sonic the Hedgehog on a Nintendo Power cover. Could you imagine telling gamers back in the 1990s that this would eventually happen. Fanboys on both sides would've lost their collective minds seeing this cover.
  10. Indeed that was the response @Phillyman gave me in the Chatbox when I made an offer to Phillyman to donate my EGMs to fill in the holes from 2001 to 2005. @umpire81 I have the same issues you do up to #199, and I had previously made a donation offer but as others have said Phillyman isn't really taking EGMs right now, and E-Day and MigJmz are working through their own backlogs right now.
  11. Is it me or does this cover look like it has Hulk Hogan's head & neck on an inflatable sex doll while holding the severed head of some random dude in a Sting mask??
  12. Any way we could get a new scan of this particular NP issue without the double-pages per jpeg?
  13. Mednafen for most things, in particular PS1 & Saturn. Kega Fusion for Sega CD. Redream for Dreamcast. mGBA for all things Game Boy, and PPSSPP for Sony PSP. A few others here & there as well.
  14. Yup. So did NHL 98 & NBA Live 98. Simple to just update the rosters and keep pushing those sports games out. That was, and still is, the EA Way.
  15. Not at all crazy land. In most cases in the 5th/6th gen eras sports titles were often the last games released on a particular console. For example in the U.S. in 2004 for the PS1 there was MLB 2005, NFL Gameday 2005, Madden 2005, and FIFA 2005. For the PS2 in 2011-2012 all PS2 releases were sports titles including MLB 2K11 & 2K12, NBA 2K12, FIFA 12, and PES 2012 & 2013. In fact I think even PES 2014 came for the PS2 but only in Latin America.
  16. Gaming in general was far better in the 1990s. Oh, and Yoshi's Island is overrated.
  17. And be very careful if you do scan it, because ya know...monetary value. I'm somewhat curious about the value of my Sega CD Backup RAM Cart. I have a sneaking suspicion that it's internal battery is dead, but I can likely replace that. Does anyone here have a Backup RAM Cart, and if so does it still work in an actual Sega CD?
  18. I hear ya. I have a box of old Sega CD games (including cases and manuals) including Lunar 1 & 2, SoulStar, Vay, Dark Wizard, Sonic CD, and a few others that are worth a pretty penny. I was shocked too that they were worth that much. Not to mention my original 1997 Castlevania: SotN and various PS1 & PS2 RPGs. Hell even my GameCube component cable is worth well over $100 all by itself.
  19. That is what my header looks like. My only issue was trying to find the shoutbox last night. I though the website had b0rked... My only issue so far is that the purple color of the "Preserved" in the Magazine Database is a bit too dark. The purple blends in too much with the text making it hard to read.
  20. That's not good. Last I checked Future U.S. still owns Next Generation, PSM, and a few others. I have all the RetroMags uploads for NextGen but still. Yikes.
  21. Lol no not even close to 500. Now that being said Trip Hawkins & 3DO were catering to more than just game developers. Hawkins also wanted 3DO to eventually be a living room "multimedia hub" for games, movies, educational software, and other things. So perhaps the writer counted developers based on that and overinflated the number to 500? Either that or the letter writer was a clueless bonkers 3DO fanboy....
  22. I was going to ask about Issue 100. Now I don't have to.
  23. WOO-HOO!! (except for the sweaty Butterbean insert...)
