  1. This was a great time for games, it was also a great magazine. I wish I had the entire series.
  2. I remember seeing this at Elbo at the height of the 16 bit wars, it was a great time to be alive.
  3. One game I've really been playing is Power Strike for Master system. I love games by that company especially M.U.S.H.A for the Genesis. Excellent gameplay, long levels, and just the right difficulty make it one of the top two vertical shmups on Genesis.
  4. For me, retro games will always be something that I reach for. Right now, I'm going 8-bit with Faxanadu. Something about the simplicity of a more innocent time in gaming history that I will always enjoy. Also, the Guardian Legend. I love that first level music and I remember where I was when I first played it.
  5. I just downloaded Shantae:half genie for Wii U. It looks like it will continue the tradition of excellent Wayforward platformers. I agree with Vice350z that my steam library has about 150 items and I'm trying to play them. Otherwise. I'm playing Fire Emblem Awakening on 3ds and Link's Awakening on virtual console. By the way, everyone, Merry Christmas! Please be careful if you are traveling.
  6. That was a great issue! The Snes was going at full steam at that point.
  7. The first game magazine I bought was Game Player's April 1991. It had a review of M.U.S.H.A in it. However, EGM was the one I looked forward to the most. I waited with anticipation for each issue and I loved the import coverage, in fact I almost bought an import copy of Verytex for the Megadrive. However, I got cold feet so I stayed with domestic games for quite a while. I never threw away any magazine, however some got lost through the years. The magazine I miss the most was the "1992 Sega Genesis Buyer's Guide". That was my all-time favorite single magazine. It had reviews of Thunderforce 3, Wings of Wor, Gaiares, and several other greats. That was a pretty rare magazine. I wish I could find it again. I believe that issue was a Sendai publication.
  8. Yeah, I loved Nintendo Power. I remember reading the first strategy on Final Fantasy 2. I couldn't put it down. I still go back and read Power for nes reviews on obscure games and hidden gems, especially shmups. If I was on a desert island, I would be happy with the nes/famicom library.
  9. Hello, everyone. I just turned 45 and I'm a longtime retrogamer and collector. I own a new 3DS, wii u, 360 and some more systems from past generations. I started with a 2600 and I remember missile command was 34.99 at the time. I bought a snes right after it was released and Mario World and Gradius 3 kept me busy for a while. However, the Genesis was my all-time favorite console. The first game I bought for it was Thunderforce 3 followed by Raiden. At that point, shmups were my favorite genre. The Genesis hosted some real winners such as M.U.S.H.A and Elemental Master. I loved the Genesis because most of its games had kind of a dark and serious atmosphere such as Kid Chameleon and Spiderman vs. the kingpin. I started getting an EGM subscription in April 1991 and I have collected game magazines since. I really enjoyed the 1990s in the timeline of gaming history.
