I have always regretted throwing out (yes, throwing out!) my magazine collection in my 20s. I had hundreds of Amiga and PC magazines, many of which I'm still to this day trying to get my hands on digital copies. My biggest regret is throwing out the first 100 or so PC Powerplay issues, a number of which I've not found anywhere online. So my advice would be to sell any for which you can get your hands on a decent digital copy, and keep the rest.

Thanks so much for all the PC Gamer mags you've been adding. I've been attempting to get a full set of digital copies for a few years now, but still have quite a few gaps. This was one that I needed. Do you have many more to add? The biggest challenges appear to be issues 2, 6, 18, 23, 24, 25 & 29.

Hi gingerbreadman, Apologies for the late reply. I've looked everywhere for the Amiga Action and Amiga User International mags that I'm missing, to no avail. Let me know if you do go ahead with the order. I can see a number of the Amiga User International mags that I need at RetroGamingWorld, so that's what I'd start with. Cheers.

Thanks Kiwi! That's super helpful. To be clear Gingerbeardman, 1 out of the 10 magazines is in the older A4 format, whereas the other 9 will need an A3 scanner to capture properly.

I'm afraid I have no idea. I owned a lot of Amiga magazines in my youth, but sadly (aaarrrgghhhh!!!!) threw them all out when I got married. I didn't even realise that UK magazines had different dimensions until Kitsunebi informed me.

I of course would prefer for any scans to be up to the standard of retromags to give something back to this community, but selfishly would accept any clean and legible scans. If you're up for it, there are a bunch of Amiga User International magazines at the Retro Gaming World shop in Stafford. I would buy 10 of them to start with and get them sent to your address. Thanks for the info. I've checked out OutOfPrintArchive, but they seem so meticulous that they wouldn't get to any magazines I send them for years. Also seem very focused on Nintendo and Sega. If anyone from the UK stumbles across this topic and wants to scan some magazines, please get in touch with me.

There are some very particular UK magazine scans that I really want to get my hands on. I can actually find quite a few of them for sale in the UK, but getting them shipped to Australia would cost a fortune. Is there anyone on this site that lives in the UK and would like to take shipment of some Amiga and Multi-Format magazines for scanning? My main priorities are to get scans of the following: 43 missing Computer & Video Games magazines 35 missing Amiga User International magazines 24 missing Amiga Action magazines I've noticed today that retrogamingworld have 16 of the missing Amiga User International mags. I'd pay for them if there's someone willing. I can also see a few of the Amiga Actions at Sell My Retro. Cheers, Tricky.

Actually, I think I can answer this myself. In issue #163, it has a section showing recently reviewed games, including some that were reviewed in #162. I guess it's just a very hard to find issue!

Does anyone know if this issue ever actually existed? It seems strange to me that I can't find anything about it anywhere. Even stranger is that Kiwi managed to scan all the issues either side of it, and Sega Retro has completely different scans of all issues either side of it too. Why is this issue missing everywhere? Can anyone find a cover for it? It would have been the May 1995 issue. Cheers, Tricky

I'm the opposite. When I start a game...I finish it. Well, for modern games anyway. Once you go back to the 80s, games were often impossible to finish or indeed never ended.

I always mix up playing retro games (mostly Amiga) with more recent games off Steam. When it comes to modern games, I'm what they call a "patient gamer". I always play games from about 7 or 8 years ago. It means I never pay more than $10 for any game, and my relatively inexpensive PC can play them all with all bells and whistles turned on. It also means that I never play games that are hyped up and then turn out to be shit. After many years, a solid perception of games' quality has arisen. Anyway, in recent times I've been playing through 2009 games for the first time, such as Batman: Arkham Asylum, Mirror's Edge, Borderlands and STALKER: Call of Pripyat. Right now...I'm 50 hours through Dragon Age: Origins. Once I'm done with that, it's onto 2010 I go (Mass Effect 2, BioShock 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Amnesia, Metro 2033, Torchlight etc.).

I have promising news Hoagie. I reached out to Pix and asked him whether he might get around to scanning in the rest of his PC Review magazines. Below is his reply: "They are on my to-do list but PC Zone is taking priority for the moment. There were only a handful of those available when I started also and I’d like to get as many done as possible before I move onto something else. I’ve barely scanned any of them for a year or two but should be starting up again within the next few weeks."

Wow. How strange that I've never heard of it. I guess it never reached Australian shores, unlike all the majority of Amiga mags and PC Gamer / PC Zone.

Can you provide an example of one you feel represents a really good example? I'd like to help out the site in some way. Even if I had a quality scanner and photoshop, I don't have physical magazines any more (stupidly threw them all out about 12 years ago). #regret

I did stumble across that site a while back, and grabbed a few he had. Thank you very much for the recommendation though! I can't find much about PC Review. Any idea how many issues there were? Nothing on archive.org. Nothing on Wikipedia. I found someone selling a bunch on Ebay up to issue 62, so it was obviously quite a long running magazine.

I've never heard of a magazine called PC Games Plus. I can see that it was around in the mid to late 90s, which is the time period I was buying pretty much any PC gaming magazine I could find in newsagents. Never saw it anywhere. As for what I mean by MORE, I mean I need a lot more of very particular magazines. I want to complete my collections of 80s/90s GamesMaster, PC Zone, PC Gamer, Amiga Action, PC Powerplay, Hyper, Computer and Video Games, PC Format and Amiga User International magazines. I have most issues for many of these, but have struggled to find more than a handful for others (such as GamesMaster, PC Gamer UK, PC Format, PC Zone). If anyone scans in issues I'm missing for any of these magazines, I'll donate the original cover price to Retromags. How about that for incentive! Tricky

I'm still amazed at how many people recognise my name as I get involved in different parts of the retro gaming community. It makes all the effort I put into The Adventure Gamer totally worthwhile. It's disappointing to hear that this site isn't particularly focussed on UK / AU magazines, as that's definitely where my passion lies. I'm an Amiga and PC fanboy, and while I have a passing interest in consoles, I've never owned one. I look forward to seeing what PC mags you have waiting in the wings. No pressure to scan them of course. You've made your feelings about the process very clear, and no-one could blame you for that. I'm interested to know exactly what it is that you spend your time doing on the site. Where do you get the images from? Do you edit them in photoshop? Do you add information about the magazines? Where do you find it? Is it something you want help with or do you like owning it?

Yes. I am that Trickster. I'm actually working on a new project, for which I need to collate a lot of old PC and Amiga magazines. Sites like this one and Kiwi's are invaluable. But I still need MORE!
