Just want to clarify in the overview, under "Select Games" Pocket Monsters Stadium is not the Japanese Pokemon Stadium. Pocket Monsters Stadium 2 was released in North America as Pokemon Stadium.
-
Under the Select Games section which contains previews there is a game called Colliderz for the N64. From limited research, it was planned to be released for the Saturn & PlayStation, but not for the N64. So it's possible it's an error on Tips & Tricks part, or it was supposed to be on N64 as well, but not widely reported.

This issue previews Beyond Good and Evil 2, which at this time holds the record of the longest development period of a AAA video game, beating out Duke Nukem Forever.
Talk about development hell.

I decided to edit the content of this entry today, and found something rather interesting. Under the "Next Wave" section that shows previews, it has a game for the Genesis under the title "Nightmare Circus". This is the first game I've seen in a gaming mag that ended up being a Brazilian exclusive. There was a NA release planned but cancelled. I realize there were MANY Brazil only releases over the years, but I never see them mentioned in mags of the time.

Always unfortunate to have a cover feature on a cancelled game.
We talked about this a few years(?) ago. This may be only only incidence of a cancelled game that made the cover of a gaming mag.

One of the rare instances where the game featured on the cover is never released. Although Saints Row was previously released Xbox 360 in August 2006, this PS3 version was cancelled.

Interesting bit in the Reader Mail section of this issue. A reader writes that some friends of his are big fans of the RPG PC game MapleStory. His friends told how MapleStory was headed to the DS and he did not believe them as MapleStory was about 400 MB on the PC and couldn't fit on the DS. Tips & Tricks replied that it was indeed headed to the DS in fall of 2007 in Korea and in North America soon after.
Well, it didn't hit the DS till April 2010 in Korea and November 2011 in Japan, but no NA release.
Apparently it VERY popular in Korea in mobile devices as there seems to be a game released every year on Mobile since 2004.

I'm loving these EGM2's too! I'm indexing some of them now and there's news, previews, cheats, features and a sizable international section. Thanks a lot dablais!

Very funny, @E-Day. I went to download this, only to get a pop-up redirecting me to PlayOnline.com.
I remember reading about that in the mags back in the day. Fans were NOT happy with it.

I miss sticking a cartridge into a NES, pressing the power button, and instantly getting the title screen of a finished game that is mine to do what I want with for the rest of my life.
Absolutely! Couldn't agree more.

This issue stated that 4 video game franchises were having films made. Uncharted, Lost Planet, Mass Effect, & Everquest.
Uncharted didn't hit theatres till February 2022 (delayed partially because of the Covid-19 pandemic)
Lost Planet never got far into development. The writer submitted a script to the studio in 2014 but never went farther.
Mass Effect released in 2012 as an animated feature under the title Mass Effect: Paragon Lost.
I couldn't find anything about an EverQuest in my limited research.

Interesting to see that as far back as 2010, companies were trying to push "cloud gaming" with the OnLive service. 13 years later, and it's still not a viable option as we saw Stadia fail.

Content Note: In the Previews section, it says "Dante's Inferno" is planned for PS3, Xbox 360, & Wii. However according to IGN, no Wii version was ever planned. See link: https://www.ign.com/articles/2010/02/03/ea-on-wii-dantes-inferno

While indexing magazines, I usually look up any previews that I'm not too familiar with to see if the game actually released. Under the Almost Famous section it lists games set to release in 2009 that were kind of lesser known. About half the list didn't release till 2010.

Another April issue means another April Fool's joke. This one should seem rather obvious as there's no way this would fly on a major system at this time. There was a preview of a game called "Valkyrie Wilde: Full Frontal Assault", in which the main character was a fully nude female. Needless to say, the game does not exist. Although apparently PSM had an artist draw Valkyrie Wilde in one of it's swimsuit issues a few years later.

The April Fools tradition continues in EGM. This time it's a game for the Wii called Mushroom Kingdom Hearts that has Mario joining the Kingdom Hearts franchise.

I'm glad I was almost always a generation behind the times.

Just a note on the "Blood: The Last Vampire" game in Previews. There were 2 games in that series that come out in December 2000. Called "Blood: The Last Vampire - Gekan" & "Blood: The Last Vampire - Joukan" respectively.
-
EGM continues it's "April Fool's" tradition with a trick to unlock "topless mode" in Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball.

Funny thing about the write up for the preview of the PS2 game "Ka" in this issue. I quote "There's no chance in hell of Sony flying this mosquito over to America."
Ka was released on March 12, 2002 in North America as "Mister Mosquito"
LOL.

This was an EGM issue of "Not Released in North America". There are 12 games in the previews section of this issue that were either Japan only, Europe only, Japan & Europe only, or never released at all.
This seems REALLY high.

Hilarious how easily these magazines were duped by big talk and robot abs.
One of the most hyped games ever, and one of the worst fighting games ever made. Amazing how it ended up on like 8 different consoles!

One thing I've found interesting when I've been indexing these magazines is checking out the previews and finding games that never ended up being released. This issue ended up with my personal high I've seen with SIX! 4 Sega CD games and 2 Genesis games. Plus there was a Super NES game previewed that didn't release in North America but did come out in Japan on the Super famicom.
