  1. Thank you, NintendoPower91 for the donation. I always wanted to try and get into this game, but having the strategy guide will help a lot.
  2. Damn. Nearly 400MB, you don't skimp on the quality, do ya? You would think a 157-page mag wouldn't be such a large size, but the color and resolution really does look GOOD. Nice job.
  3. Are we really only 1 issue away from a full collection? This is very cool. I never realized EGM went to bimonthly and then quarterly in the end. I was happy to hear they came back, but apparently it only lasted few more years. I'm glad I can finally catch up on them here.
  4. Oh. My. Gosh. I didn't know there was double-sided feeders. Those really are the cool people. I hope you get there one day. No more flipping for you then -- what a glorious day.
  5. wow, really? I forget just how many issues they made, I know they eventually would stop, but I never realized it was so close. I have looked a few times at the magazine racks at a Walmart lately, and there weren't ANY videogame mags on them that I could see. It makes sense, but I remember a time when you could find 8-10 different vg magazines on shelves (console and pc) and then you had the standalone tip and code books that showed up around holidays. It was awesome, so its fun reliving those times through all the work you curators and team members put into releasing these to us. Its more than a hobby to many of us. It was pure joy and excitement delivered every month from any mags we could afford. Even though I never had the money to buy everything I wanted, looking through these issues was like having a window into seeing them in person for myself. Later I would have a job and earn money for some of these games and consoles, but it was these magazines that started my interest as a kid. Thank you all for that. And thank you E-Day, for your hard work on so many of these issues that I have enjoyed over the last 10+ years or so. I can't send a donation right now, but I've been trying to respond with a "thanks" on every issue I've downloaded throughout the years. And I've tried to say thanks to each one of you that makes this site possible. I don't have much, but this is the least I can do. Thanks for your time.
  6. Thanks for the added information, that's cool you used to make maps in the Build engine. I'm sure none of the content is new, but its still nice to have this handbook available. Thanks for taking the time to scan and put this huge book together. It must take several hours or even all day to edit something of this size into a small enough file to distribute.
  7. This is an amazing find to put on the site for all gamers. I was ALWAYS baffled when other reviews would talk about how this game would actually transport you any time you would use a spiral stairs or on an elevator, I never understood how they knew this stuff, but clearly, they either spent time designing their own levels or they had this book (the chances of them doing both is impossible, so let's not talk about it:) I don't know if the way you design maps is done the same way today or if newer tools exist -- but this still has a TON of great info. You even have 17 tips from Richard "Levelord" Gray himself. Along with ideas from Alen H. Blum III, the two men that have used the Build engine more than anyone else (at the time of this publication). Even if some things have changed, you get step-by-step instructions in this massive 348-page tome. You are taught how to create sectors. How to embellish walls, ceilings and floors. Not to mention panning and scaling it all. You will be shown how to place sprites and manipulate them, and they go over all the special types of sprites. Aside from the programing language, there is a number of instructions on how to create good levels and deathmatch maps. The included CD-ROM file is a nice extra, not having to track it down separately makes it more enticing. Thank you for preserving this Areala, and making it available to all of us.
  8. It seems that other people have put more thought into issue order than what the publisher themselves probably did back then. Great work finding out some of these details, I enjoyed that article. It's clear this company was new to publishing game magazines, and I don't think they knew themselves how to approach the industry back then. I imagine one person saying, "this is how we are going to number them," but then a higher-up says "no, we are going to release them like this," but then maybe not everything gets relabeled properly as they go to print. I agree with publisher error being very plausible, especially with multiple mags involved. I had a few of these issues years ago, they were some of the only vg-related items you could find on newsstands until GamePro launched content. I never liked the volume/number style of labeling magazines. I understand it's how things were done for decades, but it's not friendly to the consumer who usually just wants to know what month it came out so they can organize them at home. I prefer the standard issue numbers. Plus, some mags had a new volume at the start of a new year, while "number" would coincide with the month (January was number 1 and December was number 12). But some magazines would start whenever their first issue would launch, so sometimes Oct or Nov was number 12, and the new volume started with Nov or Dec. This drove me crazy, especially since some issues would not contain which MONTH they released anywhere in the issue (not even on the inside publishing info page).
  9. I'm glad we got as many as we did. I don't want to hear about you mortgaging your house to buy more @Gamer issues. EGM2 was worth having a complete collection, but we don't need every issue of the Official Gaming Magazine of Best Buy, if it sends you to the poor-house (which, I understand, is a cardboard box -- not actually a house) lol.
  10. Ranks are always meaningless, but I didn't want to be a "newbie" forever when I started. But I did want to thank each person for each magazine I have downloaded, so if it takes me a few years -- then I will do it, even if I can only respond to 30 at a time.
  11. As best I can tell, the limit should be 30 responses in 24 hours (so "like, thanks, haha," and so on). I was trying to leave a "thanks" for every issue I have downloaded, and that's how I found it. I thought it was dumb, but it does keep me from going up 2,500 points in a day just to rank me up faster, so it's understandable.
  12. I wondered why Famitsu were so rough -- I thought I needed to update the firmware or purchase an app add-on or something. That makes sense, thanks for the details. I remember hearing that 20 years ago, but that was before being able to translate things digitally. Good to know.
  13. You are a legend. I will come back when I have more "likes" to give, since I just ran out. I was trying to help you get up to 2,000 rep lately. So I hope you get there soon.
  14. Wow, 440+ downloads in only 25 mins! That seems fast. Thanks for putting this one together. I always love seeing new Xbox mags.
  15. Great find. I believe you said you bought this one with your own money, and it wasn't cheap, but we all appreciate the dedication to your craft. Another FULL collection now available to all you visit the website. You must be so proud! Good work.
  16. I go there to get some hard-to-find ones, but when this website has them i always quietly replace the other copies. Your 341MB scan easily beats the others out in quality, but I forget when Saturn Fan was originally done. 5 or 10 years can make a difference in scanning tech or availability to some people. I love the Dengeki PS ones you put out. I do need to get a tablet, trying to translate with a phone can be a little tough, like you said before.
  17. Yes, hot damn! I was here! (that's what the kids say, right?) This is exciting! I knew you were hanging on to it -- just waiting for the right time. Great work, buddy. I tip my hat to you [insert hat-tipping emoji]
  18. Oh boy. We got about 9 or so left, I believe. It great seeing these more modern mags.
  19. I enjoy Sega Saturn coverage, especially the dedicated magazines so thank you so much with this. I tend to download nearly all mags based on videogames that I can get my hands on, just in case some disappear forever or get lost, so I will always download any Japanese VG mags you put up.
  20. Thanks to matrixman for the donation. and for the scanning from, dablais. It's easy to joke about the magazine that came from Best Buy, but their promotional stuff isn't out of the ordinary in the issues themselves. Just a few logos. It's been great seeing all of these.
  21. Happy Christmas, hard to believe there's only about 10 more issues for this mag. I'm surprised we have around 20 already. Thanks to the one that donated.
  22. Thanks for this issue MigJmz, and the Sega Sports NFL 2K1 Prima Guide earlier. I appreciate you putting out mags around the holidays when you could easily take this week off. I hope you still find the time to spend with family. Oh, and please thank whoever had the idea for the "snowfall" on the website... a very nice effect (I never saw it before).
  23. This was one of my favorite mags back then -- great cover art, and the personalities of the editors was so memorable. Good coverage and very solid writing.
  24. This is a LOT of responses for an issue of @Gamer: The Official Magazine of Best Buy. I bet those new to the site are impressed by our dedication.
  25. Wow, what an epic description. This is something you don't get when you just download one of the massive torrent packs. Thanks for the short history. I have a few of Bill Kunkel's books but I never got the one mentioned above. Thanks for bringing me here, Areala. You were right, probably the best write-up on a file I've seen on the site. Very informative.
