Game Players Issue 50 (August 1993)
  2. I'm pretty sure we never had this issue before. I usually keep all scans even with poor quality until a better version is available, and I did not any version of this issue. As for the dates, the second issue (which will be getting a new scan shortly), doesn't have a date listed in it like volume 1 number 1b. The copyright date in the masthead is 1988. The first run of Game Player's are really hard to pin down as far as dates go. And for the yearlong gap between the two issues you mentioned, if they did their numbering properly on the cover, it means we are missing at least 4 issues between them as it goes from Vol.1 No.3 to Vol. 2 No.4. I still have Kevin Gifford's (aka Magweasel) spreadsheet that he created a long time ago that I refer now and then. It's by no means 100% complete, but looking at his table for these magazines, there should be one more for 1988 (Winter), and then he only has Vol. 2 No. 3 as one that we had missing in our database (I have since added it). He doesn't have Vol. 2 Nos. 1 and 2 listed, which makes me think they skipped those two for some reason. I can't find a whisper about them anywhere online either. Anyhow, I found a copy of Vol.2 No.3 on ebay and bought it, along with the Vol.1 No. 1A as we call it since it has a slightly different cover. I'm guessing it was the first print run before they came up with the Game Player's logo.

    Game Player's Nintendo Buyer's Guide Vol.1 No.1b (August 1988)
  6. Not that these are common, but I have a pile of SWATPro issues on the docket for scanning, as well as single issues of less common magazines. I think this thread is better suited for when you are going to scan something that is quite common (Nintendo Power, EGM, GamePro), rather than the less common stuff (Game Player's, SWATPRo, Foul, etc)
  7. Phillyman is supposed to open a ticket with IPB about your problem of needing approval in certain categories today (along with one for kitsunebi77 for his DB problem).
  8. Definitely entering any magazines you know of in the database would be most welcome. Several of us here can help you if you run into any issues.
  9. You should ask Frank if he has a list of all the magazine titles he's come across so far. We'd never know to look for certain rarer things if we don't know they exist. I'm sure he has other stuff that we don't know exists.
  10. They are active on Twitter almost daily. They spent the month of may or June at game informer digitizing a bunch of press release material they had stored away. They preserve physical magazines. I just sent them three issues they were missing last month. As far as I know they only scan pages that contain info on games and hardware to get the full story on a game. They leave full preservation to us and direct people to our site who are looking for scans.
  11. Maybe he found someone else and didn't bother taking down his ad. I'm glad that we have a good relationship with The Video Game History Foundation where we'll send each other duplicates. We should have done that years ago
  12. Let me know if and when he gets back to you with a list and/or prices if he gives you any.

EGM Trickman's Best Tricks and Tips of 1993!
  15. Does he have a list of what's available? Prices? Price for everything?
  16. No one is going to change their names to Trots Johnson or Squirts McTurdle. The name change was a serious proposition because I do want to consolidate my usernames across multiple platforms. I was also hoping for a Ferkner landslide.
  17. We should all have poop based names. RetroTurds.
  18. Oh my god, take your time with that second round! I feel like I only got through one of your boxes so far!
  19. It's worth changing just to have you change yours to that!
  20. Top choice is only leading by one vote. It can't win with only 50% of the vote.
  21. If it was me I would ask them about that and why they were not honest. But that's just me. Seems like they could have at least been honest about things.
