Mags on Me
in Help
Thanks. USPS is probably the cheapest with their flat rate boxes if they will all fit. Magazines are a priority, so the guides can stay behind if necessary. If it's really pricey, we can work something out between us

Mags on Me

If you are willing to ship to Canada, I will take all the magazones to scan. Some already exist on the site but could use a higher resolution scan.
If that's fine, let me know and I will send along my address.

Great. We'll figure something out.

I am in Ontario. UPS is always pricey. Unfortunately, the USPS raised the price of their flat rate boxes to Canada. It used to be $25 for up to 20lbs to Canada in a medium box, but now it's $42, so not much better than UPS. FedEx is probably the same.
We can either split the shipping bewteen us, or start a collection to pay for the shipping. But splitting it between us is probably the best bet. There is no hurry as I can't really spare the shipping cost at the moment either, But we'll eventually get those magazines in the mail. You have a lot of great issues, including that fantastic December 1994 issue of EGM!

I fixed the duplicated page and added the missing page image for page 148. That is the best I can do since I don't have the original anymore. I am uploading a new version.
-
Ah, fiddle sticks. I'll get that fixed today. In the meantime, I will remove the download link.
EDIT: Actually, I can't fix it since I don't have the original magazine anymore. I got rid of it months ago. I guess this one will have to go on the list. Damn!

It is frowned upon simply because some people think they own the content they scan and are protective of it, even when you give them full credit. It's easier to have everything done within this site than to borrow other people's scans. The exception is if they come to us asking if we want to host it as well.
Opening post has been updated.

I was wondering how long it would keep going since they canned the PlayStation magazine.
-
Last I heard, Phillyman was uploading everything to File Factory since rapidshare turned to crap. This was several weeks ago. And I haven't lost site of the prime goal of this site. However, I have limited access to things like the accounts where the magazines are kept, so I cannot add the ones I have done in. The last several months. I need access to everything he has access to. Then I could add stuff when he isn't around.

Tips & Tricks August 2002 is complete. As part of my new process, when saving the edited pages at the standard 1600ish pixel width, I also save each at full size for future-proofing. This will be done with all future scans.
Up next: Tips & Tricks Issue 093 according to our Cover Gallery (labeled 91 on the cover) September 2002 (scan #57).

That last point is a good idea.

Full size could be an option as well. I will add it to the poll.
Luckily I have kept the last 8 or so scans I have done, though I did not save them between editing them and downsizing them. So to rerelease them down the road at a higher resolution would require editing them again. But the editing is the fast part of the process

While looking at what scans we have available, I was reminded that the scans come in three different widths: 1600, 1440 and 1280 pixels wide. This got me to wondering how people are reading these scans, whether is on a tablet or something similar or on a computer screen. Then I was wondering if the current 1600 width is enough or if there was a desire to have it bumped up to 1920 (or close to that number since pages are cropped by height now), though file size would increase quite a bit with this.
So I have come up with this little two-question poll to see how people comsune these scans and if the status quo is good for everyone.

So here we go. This is what is needed:
Electronic Gaming MonthlyEverything except: 41, 42, 43, 50, 53, 66, 90, 104. You might notice that several that are needed are already on the site. However, they could greatly use an updated scan because the quality of the current one is only "okay", or because it was scanned many years ago when the page width standard was lower; 1280 pixels wide as opposed to the current 1600 pixels wide. There are several scans that are 1440 pixels wide which is the minimum standard now.EGM2Everything except 2, 5, 13, 17, 18, 21, 30Game Player's Strategy Guide to Nintendo GamesVolume 2 Number 4 (Volume 1 Number 2 and Volume 1 Number 3 are on the site but could use a rescan)GamePro94 (Ultimate MK3 cover)SWATPro1991 Aug/Sep, 1992 Mar*, 1992 Apr/May, 1992 Aug/Sep, 1993 Mar, 1993 Sep, 1994 Sep, 1994 Nov*available on the site but could use an updated scan -
I don't have any of those, but am willing to scan them. My to-scan pile is getting small. I will go through what is already scanned and let you know what is needed.
