  2. A heat gun is good for getting really stubborn address labels off of covers. I'm not sure a tool shop calibre heat gun is necessary as they may get too hot, but a crafting heat gun used for embossing does the trick. I borrow my wife's crafting heat gun to get the impossible labels off of magazines because I find the hair dryer isn't hot enough. I tried the heat gun method for debinding a few years ago but I did not like the results. While you got 100% of the page, you also got lots of glue residue and curling at the edges.
  3. The first trick is to not use gimp ;). Photoshop is better for this. You can find the "unlimited trial version" like I be of you know where to look
  4. Those are already scanned and edited. They're currently being released this week. So feel free to donate them to a theft place or sell them. Some retro game stores buy them.
  5. If memory serves correctly (and it probably doesn't), I have edited other peoples scans in the past. The distant pass mind you. But I have been Editing Phillyman's scans for years since he isn't well versed in doing that. Plus with having more magazines than one person should own, it would be better if he spent his time scanning rather than editing. I would switch between scanning my own stuff and editing his. For a while I was using the ADF on my HP all-in-one, and that was alright. It was certainly faster than my Canon Lide 210 (CAD$100 by the way), but not better. It had a tendency to take a strip off the top edge of the scan, could only scan one side at a time, and the scans overall weren't as good as the Canon. So I had a lot of my own stuff to work on and fix. Then I went back to the Canon because I found the HP scans just weren't good enough. Since it's slower, I didn't scan as often, so I had more time to edit Phillyman's stuff. Now I won't have any time for anything but scanning and editing

  12. There are also a bunch of scans that are very old and can use an updated version. A lot of the early Nintendo Power issues fall into that category I think. The majority of my own stuff that I have to scan is GamePro and a small number of original run Game Player's. Phillyman has so much stuff and so many boxes, he doesn't even know what he has Once Game Stop ceases to exist and/or Game Informer goes down, we can probably revisit that publication.

  15. The piles are gone. Everything is catalogued and organized back in the boxes for easy retrieval. Below is the spreadsheet detailing everything that was sent. https://1drv.ms/x/s!Atyk-cuOCnWLnP006RkzC4J7UB8ILw In short: 865 unique issues, 896 total issues, 58 Player's/Strategy Guides. To quote Bob Cole, "Ohhhh, baby!"

  17. It does, but I don't know how to put it there...
  18. I also donated; not as much since I now have to buy a heavy duty paper cutter. Thankfully my wife is a dork and likes organizing things, so she helped me sort the magazines by publication last night and started entering them into Excel for me. The work continues tonight!
  19. Last month, member CIVICMINDED contacted us on Facebook asking if we'd accept a magazine donation. A massive magazine donation, spurred on by me getting the Fujitsu scanner. The massive donation turned out to be 577 pounds of magazines; 12 boxes. Thousands of dollars worth of magazines donated to the site for scanning. There is some really good stuff here. The first seven pictures are just from the first box I opened. I have inventoried four boxes worth of magazines, which so far is 326 magazines. The last picture shows the four boxes and all the rest of the stuff that needs to be inventoried surrounding them. An insane donation on its own. But on top of that, CIVICMINDED paid the $1,200 freight shipping to ship them across the border to Canada where I live. Needless to say, insanely generous and insanely expensive. As such, we would like to start a small donation drive to help offset some of the cost that CIVICMINDED paid in shipping. So if you're able to help out by donating to help cover the shipping, even a bit, please do. UPDATE: Phillyman is sweetening the deal, for every $50 donated you will be entered in a chance to win either a Super NT or Mega SG console. Read more below -
