  1. Reruns and hockey! Though Lost is starting tonight...but that show isn't as good as it used to be.
  2. Positive. As kbf pointed out, they advertise it in their magazine, but only provide an 800 number. It may turn out that they only have recent back issues, and not issues fro mback in the day. They advertised back issues in the early 90's and already some of the first issues were not available. So until someone calls the number, it will be a mystery as to what they have available
  3. GamePro currently offers back issues of their magazine, so they are still profiting from their back catalogue. I used to have a huge pile of their magazine back in the 90's, which I no longer have, along with EGM. Ideally I would still have them, but I don't. So having electronic copies, while not perfect for me, is a good replacement.
  4. I won a November 1994 issue of GamePro that I want to send to someone on here. I PM'ed Phillyman, but he has yet to respond. Any scanners who want to scan it can PM me their address and I will try to get the seller to ship it to you.
  5. Including the heatsink fan, I have 5 fans in my computer. Needless to say it stays nice and cool, but it kind of sounds like a nuclear reactor coming online. Overall the fans I added are quite quiet, though they are only a year old. If I were you, I'd either get new fans, or try what Gnash suggested. That, or you can build an acrylic case, remove all the fans, and submerge your computer (minus power supply and optical drive) in mineral oil, distilled water. Not terribly convenient, but all your geeky friends will find it fascinating
  6. If it was me, and I had the money, I would go quad. Duo is good too, but I would go the one step up so that I could theoretically run 4 progames at once without noticing any sluggishness. I often run multiple programs at once, and a couple of them are usually resource-heavy. So if I could have two cores take care of that while I dick around with Winamp inbetween songs, I'd be happy. I've never used a quad-core machine, so I do not know if I would actually notice a difference or not. If you have the money to futureproof the system for a long while, go for it. If you want to not spend too much or if this system isn't meant to last years and years, stick with a duo.
  7. That is awesome. I love that old school stuff. I never read Game Players, but can't wait to see this one.

    Console Wars 2007

I saw a decent amoutn of Wii games until the day after Boxing Day (December 26). After Boxing Day, most of the Wii games were pillaged from Wal-Mart. They also has PS2s on sale for $99, but those didn't seem to be moving. Had I the money, I would have grabbed one.

    Console Wars 2007

Except that it's not as good as the 16-bit war. At least not in my eyes. What made that war so great was the advertising campaigns. Most of those who say the Wii is a fad have either not played it, or were against it before they tried it. I find the Wii's controls, especially for Wii Sports and Super Mario Galaxy, to be incredibly awesome. Much more involving than a standard gamepad, that's for sure. And even a bit more skillful too.
  10. Seasons 1 to 3 of Sliders on DVD, slippers, chocolate, a blanket, an Ottawa Senators jersey, a Wii and Super Mario Galaxy
  11. I'm leaving for Christmas tonight, but when I get back at the end of the month I will be putting 5 magazine releases (3 GamePro and 2 EGM I think), on MegaUpload. I would have already done it, but have been busy in the last couple of weeks. I won't bother with torrents right now since they don't get seeded, and about after a week of seeding, no one was even downloading them.

    Console Wars 2007

I don't know. I think it will take more than next year for the PS3 to overtake the 360. Even with the proce drop it's still pretty pricey. Plus when you buy a PS3, you are almost committing yourself to the Blu-ray format. Personally, I think Blu-ray is much better than HD-DVD and hope it wins, but I won't commit yet. I'd rather get a Wii and an LG Super Blu Player so I can buy both formats
  13. I have used Azureus for a few years now. I like it, but it's a resource hog, especially since the update to Azureus "Vuze". Bloated garbage. I may downgrade to an earlier version or change to something else. I'd like something a bit less demanding on my system.
  14. Dude! Those were the prime years for those magazines! You have to hook me up with those!
  15. What kind of sad setup do you have where you have to disconnect your DVD player in order to hook up your Wii?

    Gamepro Numbering

I am stil ltrying to find a definitive answer from someone on GamePro's site. No luck so far.
  17. I'd never use my game console to watch DVDs. It's there to play games. I already have a DVD player and two DVD drives in my computer.

    Why .cbr?

That's pretty awesome. I didn't know CDisplay had those functions. Personally I see no change with the colour settings, but that thumbnail function is great

    Why .cbr?

That's not bloatedness though. That's outdatedness . Or something. CBRs seem easy to deal with, but from what I can tell, I can't jump to a certain page number like I can with Adobe Reader.

    Why .cbr?

Adobe Reader isn't bloated. Nor is it resource-hogging.
  21. As of right now, I have the following At least one of each system boxed and complete, except Dreamcast): Sega Master System: 144 games Sega Genesis: 155 games Sega CD: 45 games Sega Genesis 32X: 24 games Sega Saturn: 11 games Sega Dreamcast: 12 games Atari 2600: About 30 games Super Nintendo: About 20 games Nintendo 64: About 12 games I have a few Master System games on the way to me from eBay. I also have a TurboGrafx-16 (CIB) on the way with one game, and an Atari Jaguar CIB and Jaguar CD CIB on the way with about 10 games. I am not sure I will keep the Jaguar system though. I really shouldn't have bought it. I'll have to see when it gets here.
  22. No problem! I am new here too, and found the site to be exactly what I was looking for that I wanted to help. I have a bunch more that I have to upload to MegaUpload and make torrents of. The torrents don't seem to do too well. People download them and then don't seed, so I am the only one seeding them. I started with 5, and am now only seeding three since I am the only seed for those. So I don't know if I will do the torrents again.

    Why .cbr?

I just gave it a whirl. I tried with EGM Issue 33, which is 116 megs. The PDF with compression set to best quality was 120 megs. So it's almost the same size.

    Why .cbr?

Interesting. I know almost nothing about CBR files except that they are compressed archives with their extension changed. I only asked because PDF is a more universal file type. I can always extract the JPEGS from an issue and make a PDF out of them and see what happens. Ultimately the best quality and smallest file size is the most important thing . Making a PDF from JPEGS is easy peasy, so if dual formats were wanted, it would be a breeze to do.
