  1. Hey guys, it's been a while, but I've finally got a new scan ready to download. (drumroll) It's the April 1999 issue of Nintendo's official UK magazine, featuring reviews for Beetle Adventure Racing, Castlevania 64 and Monaco Grand Prix, as well as previews of Quake II, Pokemon Pinball and Hey You, Pikachu. Also, more instances of the word "yer" than you've ever seen in your life. I've popped up a few low-res preview pages on imgur (below) and you can grab the CBR file from the MediaFire link beneath them. Enjoy!

  2. If he's still in the industry, it might be possible to find some contact information for him! See if maybe he did more issues or has them available and wouldn't mind us archiving them. :)

    Areala

Not a bad idea, Areala. I'll see if I can find out any more.

  3. No problem, guys. :) I only wish I'd thrown down the cash for a few more issues now.

Actually, I was looking up the creator of this last night. If I've got the right guy, he went on to contribute a bunch of articles to The Escapist, before going on to do some translation work at Capcom. He's an editor or something at Bloomberg now. Not too shabby.

  4. Hi everyone! After almost four years of being registered here, it's probably time I got around to contributing a few magazines. I don't have a huge collection and I'm not going to be uploading stuff too frequently, but when I do I'll post it here.

I'm kicking things off with a rather obscure one:

    WhenImSixty-FourPreview01.jpg

This is the first issue of When I'm Sixty-Four, an Irish N64 fanzine made by a chap called Gearoid Reidy from Co. Offaly. I sent away for a copy of it in the Summer of 1998 after hearing about it on RTÉ's teletext service. I wasn't too thrilled by the bundle of photocopied A4 sheets I got in the mail at the time, but looking at it now, I'm pretty impressed by the amount of work that must have gone into writing, laying out and illustrating this thing. There's even a hand-drawn Zelda comic at the end. Here's a little preview:

Sadly I don't know what became of the fanzine after this; maybe this was the only issue. Who knows? After thirteen years, this may well be the only copy of this in existence. :D

I'm almost finished editing now, so I should have it up in the next day or two.

  5. Cinematech on G4 overnights is really cool. It's just clips from random videogames through the ages, no announcer or anything else. Very random and trippy!

They used to do something similar on a UK satellite channel a few years ago. From about 11 PM, it was just non-stop footage of PS2/XBox/Cube games being played really badly. It was strangely hypnotic. :D

As for what I'm watching at the moment, pretty much just The Mighty Boosh and Never Mind the Buzzcocks on the BBC. Oh, and repeats of Life on Mars on Irish TV.
