  1. I personally like the design. I do wish it had a second analog nub though. Also, because you can download a game from the PSN store and play it on your PSP and PS3, I hope there is a game save-synching feature, so that you just have to plug the PSP in via USB (or even have it use bluetooth) and you can continue the same gave at home or somewhere else. However, I do wish the screen was a bit bigger. Sony has the opportunity to gain a greater number game releases if they made the screen a touch screen, added a camera, and added sixaxis-like accelerometers in the PSP. This way, the PSP could potentially run the same games that developers are making for the DSi (if it was held vertical), and also get games that are being made for the iPhone. This model PSP would have the upper hand on its closest two competitors if that happens, because basically, right now, all the games released for the DS is turned into a DS exclusive; and it would be better than an iPhone for games because each game would have the optional 'traditional' buttons for control. But it needs to cut into its competitor's games, and the only way to do that is to cover each ones strengths. It still has the chance before its Fall release to add in these features. I hope anyway. So, basically, it would be perfect if it: Had two analog nubs Had a touchscreen Had a camera Had accelerometers It would be nice if it had: GPS Even more memory The same screen size as the 3000 I would definitely pay $199 for this... something like $229 would still be a stretch for a lot of people...
  2. Something I wish all game companies would do for their remakes, is include the original version - uncut - in addition to the updated version. That way people could replay the old for nostalgia and play the new for the extra features... Particularly with games that are remade just for a graphics overhaul.
  3. Hey thanks Wildlele, I'm not a member yet. I have to wait until they reopen registration page. I'm doing my best to help the Playstation mags get a little recognition... a lot of what I see are Nintendo Powers and Dreamcasts (which are both all good). If I get a chance to seed either PSM or OPM I'll be happy. I wish I could convert my mags myself, but the quality is extremely low (HP 1310). Thanks again for the heads up!
  4. I bought DQVIII for a few reasons: 1) the hype... I've heard the rumors of Japan's Gov't ordering them to only be released on weekends because of too many people playing hookie to buy it first. So they must be good. 2) Akira Toriyama. I'm a DBZ fan... so I thought it'd be neat to see the same art style in an RPG. 3) The magazine reviews. I only buy high rated games, and several publications gave it a 9 + 4) I guess I sould say it came with a FFXII demo... but it definitely wasn't a major reason for the purchase. I enjoyed the game a lot. It has full voice acting, which is more than most other RPGs at the time (2005). Well, some of the voice acting was really annoying... the monsters all has lisps and every foreigner had a Russian accent. The soundtrack was also updated from the Japanese version with a full orchestra, which was nice. Now, I haven't played any previous DQ title, so all the enemies were neat to fight... but apparently, enemies are to Dragon Quest what items (potions, phoenix downs, etc) are to Final Fantasy... they're the SAME in every release. So don't think, 'oh hey, this is a cool monster'... because they've been using the same ones since DQ1. But story-wise (NO spoiler), it's kind of the usual good=light/white vs. bad=dark/black crap that's in every game that is made without much thought. I think anyone would like it for the graphics and sound alone... and it being only $20 new means it is easy to resell for a cool $20 if you don't like it after all. Oh, and the game mechanics are solid too. There's no ultra hard bosses or flimsy controls for fuss over. I'd give it a 9/10
  5. I am the same way... I was all hyped about FF8 when it first came out, but the whole idea of the enemies leveling up along with you ended up hurting me in Disc 3. When I had to fight Rajin and Fujin inside Pandora's box, they were way too strong and I had to start the whole game over. And it also didn't help that I had no idea I was on my way to outer space until the rocket fired up its engines. I didn't like FFX too much either. The graphics are amazing, and still like a game released on the PS2 today... but ugh... the characters are annoying (minus Jecht... he's awesome). And I have FFXI with the HDD for PS2, and the registration process was too much. I kept getting DNS errors left and right when trying to enter the free 1 month code that came with it... now I just use the HDD for loading up the Street Fighter Alpha Anthology... A MMO would be fun on a console though. (Let's hope GTAIV does it right) As for FFXII... I actually liked the story. Partly because it wasn't about saving the world and concentrated on just one kingdom, one war. I liked that it focused on people's concrete motives and kind of kept things within reality (well... minus the whole magic stuff). I think it is truly the closest thing to a MMO on a DVD. It's absolutely a monster of a game. But after I beat it I found out that the usual FF director, writer, character artist, and even Nobuo Uematsu didn't contribute to the game after the initial demo area after the castle. I think it is Tetsuya Nomura that actually refuses to play it after the title credits play. Plus, some of the enemies are kinda lame. The two biggest optional bosses have 8 million and 50 million HP respectively... and you can whittle them down bit by bit while you leave the area and heal up and save the game. I'm all for extra challenges... but I hope the remake of FFVII will contain better bosses to make me stronger. (Let's just hope a remake is in the cards though.) And about a FFVII remake... I think they'll do it when they have nothing to regret - gameplay and graphics wise. They need to make the whole planet and a world map. All the newer Final Fantasy's and RPGs are map based because they render the environments around their characters, and have to continue a trail through the woods as if it were a hallway through a mansion... with endzone areas and loading times. A giant planet is possible though... list look at GTA:SA or Dragon Quest VIII. Sorry for such a long post but I hope someone finds it useful.
  6. All the PSM's I have to contribute are recent issues, my old ones aren't very suitable for submission... I look forward to these old ones getting put up though because I will seed the heck out of them. I hope to see them up soon!
