  1. The red logo is synonymous with me for the snes era, when the games felt like they were made with passion. The grey logo is synonymous with me for the amount of shovelware nintendo likes to spit out these days.

  2. I have really dropped the ball here of late and I apologize to everyone but the simple fact is that @ES has taken up a tonne of my time!!

I am now more lost then ever as to what I should start scanning, so if anyone can tell me where I should go for a list of some description I would love to refer to it to know where to start again.

I have an ALMOST complete collection from issues 114 - current!!!

  3. The start cause there is still about 2 and a hours hours to go :P

But seriously, The way the game forces you to advance based on the items you've collected, the music, the "screwattack" upgrade, the way the ice beam can be used to freeze enemies for use as step to out of reach places!!

Awesome bosses that you fear when you don't have enough ammo for!! I could go on forever about this one!!

EASILY THE BEST GAME OF ALL TIME - imho

Thank you to EGM putting me on to the game with there TOP 100 list in EGM 150 - (Which I still have now)

  4. I was born in 75. My first console was a 2600 in 83 or 84

But when it broke down in less then a week of having it my dad refused to use the receipt to get it repaired for me (Warranty obviously) my mum and some good friends that felt bad for me pooled there money to get me a NES and about 6 games :D

Plus they let me pick all the games too so I would have no turkey's LOL

    I love my mummy :D

  5. SNATCHER (Hideo Kojima of MGS fame doing a point and click adventure and a good one), I would say Policenauts but there hasn't been a fan translation yet, Front Mission (great strategy, find the fan translated SNES ROM), and Terranigma.

Not just a good one either, it was number 69 in EGM's top 100 of all time in issue 100!!

I have it and have not played it much but what I have played is great!!

  6. I don't know if I was one of that 500, but I did find this site through a google search looking for EGM Issue 1

So I for one am at least one new scanner/editor that has joined the crew since then

I have to get into my scanner and get into the next issue, but I am planning to be a regular here scanning and editing!!

Well , at least till every issue of EGM is archived (Never gonna happen seems there still in print now and lord knows if they will ever stop

Somehow I doubt EGM will stop in a hurry :D

  7. I got sick fro mcoffee ice cream when I was 7, and ever since then I have had a taste aversion to all things coffee related except coffee crisp.

Instead of coffee as a vice, I have cola :)

I actually agree there about the cola!

I don't drink coffee or eat chocolate, so there is no point to me voting either way!!

But take my coca-cola away and your a dead man and with-in 24 hours I am going through caffeine withdrawals.

  8. Ahm, even worse :)

Well, that method could be interesting for online renting and demos, but always with the possibility of buying a "material" copy.

OK, But what about the idea that you would never have to update you console again (in theory at least) or the fact it could also mean that publishers might be willing to take risks again

In my honest opinion these 2 positives really appeal to me a lot, I am a struggling full-time single father and can't afford to keep buying new consoles soon after they come out. As it stands I feel like this generation is really expensive considering that here in Australia a PS3 costs $700 or about $650 USD by they current exchange rate.

Then on top of that I would need a HDTV to go with it or my picture quality is nothing to care about and the Blu-ray movies are as good as useless

The GF8800 and the required PSU to run it looks a lot more appealing for me right now ($300 Australian)

Its just a pity that the PC games I see in shops don't appeal to me (The only games I ever see for PC that I do like are always ports of console games.)

    Oh well, such is life

  9. ASUS M2A-VM Integrated Graphics Motherboard ATI Radeon Xpress 1250

    AMD Athlon 64x2 6000+

    2GB DDR2 667mhz Ram (About to be upgraded to 4GB DDR2 800mhz Dual channel)

250GB Seagate HDD ide + 160GB Seagate HDD ide (About to to get a 500GB WD HDD sata)

    2x sata DVD RW Drives

ASUS VW192 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor

    WINDOWS VISTA ULTIMATE SP1

2 USB - Playstation 2 Adapters for emulation purposes

I now have the 500GB WD HDD sata

Just in time to as my HDD's were getting quite full

  10. Sadly that is the future, digital distribution ala itunes. I will miss the touch and smell of my games. ( Yeah, old cartdriges smell great ;) )

Actually, what I speak of goes beyond digital distribution in the way you described it (itunes).

With itunes you still get a copy of the files sent to you to use as you see fit

The way I described your console would just add the game to a list of games you have available to play, but you would not receive a copy of the game itself physical/digital or otherwise.

  11. Wow the spot healing brush tool is fricking incredible!

I would love to see someone do an editing guide for Photoshop as I have very little idea on how to use it

All I use is the cropping tool and the rotate tools in it

  12. That's a pretty good idea. OR, I could have the cbr file with everything as is in the mag, and include the flipped pages separately for those who want to replace them in the archive or just want to read them properly on their own.

    10% Scanned

    Glad I could help ;)

  13. This issue has a pullout strategy section for Art of Fighting and World Heroes. The second half is flipped over, so unless you flip the magazine, you are reading it upside down and starting at page 16. So, should I leave it as is, or flip them and reorder the pages so it's easily readable in a viewer? I am leaning towards leaving it as is to make it as close to having the original magazine as possible.

Just an idea, but what if you keep it as close to the original as possible. But at the end of the mag include the same pages flipped the right way round as well?
