Holy crap, this brings back some memories.
My friend and I were into making Doom levels with the tool "Waded". We always passed by this book at a local store and one day my friend actually bought it. We were pretty excited and when we got home and opened it, there was no disc! So we returned it.
I too experimented with WADED (and DeHackEd) back in the day! My copy of this had the CD-ROM when I purchased it. Unfortunately, I think it got lent out to friends years ago, and has since disappeared. Not a huge loss, since Archive.org has a backup, but still irritating to someone who always took great care of her gear.

Whew...this was a learning experience, to be sure. While I have the follow-up to this book (3D Game Alchemy for DOOM, DOOM II, Heretic, and Hexen), I think I will hold off on starting on that one. This proved to me I could handle a project this large, but I think I'll wait a bit before tackling another phone book-sized behemoth.

Metroid getting back-to-back covers on Nintendo Power...I can't remember any other franchise that got this level of treatment. Even Lara Croft took breaks between her cover appearances on other mags.

I love these issues of VG&CE! Thanks so much.

fixed and cropped. Re-download.
Thanks for fixing this up for me, @MigJmz. My intention wasn't to create more work for people, and I appreciate you making this look 10,000 times better.

Thanks so much for posting these, Areala. The scans look good to me.
As for the music -- the original Director's Cut, the one that was a 2 disc set that included the Resident Evil 2 demo, included the original music. The bad music did not get added until the Greatest Hits version of the Director's Cut
You're welcome! Glad they're of interest to people.
Ah yes, I forgot it was the Greatest Hits label of the game where the music got messed up. There had to have been something mis-translated between the MIDI table used by the composer and the one used on the PlayStation. I refuse to believe he was like, "Know what this basement needs? More trumpet!" and did it deliberately.

These pocket guides were perfect for getting in some practice with scanning/editing files. I think this is my most-improved one so far. I'd like to think I'm learning, but if you see something wrong with it, please let me know!
Now, time to tackle a crazier project...

Hey, @E-Day, I remembered the Retromags page in this one!

Another less-than-perfect release, but I'm slowly learning.

not bad at all! Just some minor edits needed is all. I'll fix that cover and some pages for ya.
Thank you so much! I've learned my lesson: scan the front and back covers first, then chop up your strategy guide...

The way Mario looks on this cover is the same way I feel, now that we finally have this issue in the archives.

Looks like there is an issue with the seedbox at the moment. Can't download this one.
Edit: Working 44 minutes later
I had the same problem about an hour ago, but it's working just fine for me now.

This is super exciting! Flipping through this, I found an ad for Outlanders, a terrible Famicom game based on the manga of the same name by Johji Manabe. Outlanders is one of my favorite manga, so finding this bit of artwork and adding it to the database is amazing!

This is quite possibly the most badass file on the whole site. Thank you, @E-Day, for all your hard work on this!

Good gawd, these Consumer Guides were utter cash grabs. Of course I loved them as a kid. Who wouldn't?

No problem, I'm glad to contribute this great issue! You'll probably also be excited to know I'm currently editing T&T issue 004!
Oh, nice! I don't have that one, so that's a double-win in my book.

I had very nearly decided to offer up my copy of this for preservation. Thank you, @MkMoveList, for archiving this one for all of us!

Holy cow, this is excellent! My favorite period of PC gaming right here, the 93 - 97 era or thereabouts.

It's...phat.
I miss the 90's, but sometimes I do not at all miss the 90's.

You're very welcome, @WraithTDK! Seeing that Archive had ISOs of the CD-ROM for this book and 3D Game Alchemy were kind of the push I needed to start working on this project. After the holidays are over and done with, I'll probably get 3D Game Alchemy scanned. I wish you many, many hours of emulation enjoyment.
