YESSSS!!
This issue is on my 'Holy Grail' list of magazines to one day acquire. I somehow overlooked this one, since it came out several months after Tomb Raider II was already on store shelves, and missed picking it up back in the day. If it winds up preserved here, I'll be thrilled beyond belief.

More Lara Croft! More, I say!

Those graphics! Man it will never get better than this!!!!!
That sad thing is, I often thought that back in 1997. Like...how beautiful was Tomb Raider 2?
-
Rumour has it he has "top men" working on them now.
-
Do you own all of these magazines for which you have cover scans? Because if so, holy crap dude, where are you keeping them?
-
I assure you, poor Areala didn't miss out on the NES and SNES era. She was around for those and for the Atari era as well. Kitsu-chan is being silly.
Also, no one should read anything I wrote back then for any reason whatsoever at all.

Keep winking, old man...

Yay, a magazine from my birthday!
-
That's such a beautifully absurd cover! Bwahahahaha!!
-
I know it's implied nudity, but it's quite tasteful. I love fairy artwork like this.
-
Then increase my supply of love by 13x, I suppose.
-
Final Fantasy VI?! I love it!
-
What, you never heard of "Christmas in July"?
-
Mercy me...! This is...intriguing. Archival for science is a must!
-
Good idea!! I'll play it with this instead!
Um...if anybody wants to know what to get me for my birthday this year... *grin* 'Power Shovel ni Norou' looks like lots of fun!
-
I so want one of those Densha de Go! controllers! Just imagine playing Resident Evil with it...
-
Lara Croft!
-
"Big confrontation", OK. "New invader"? My @$$.
-
Amusing in that the game's title is clearly "Psycho Soldier" both by the katakana and the romaji, and yet elsewhere in the ad its referred to as "Psychic Soldier", a term which makes much more sense in the context of a game where you disable opponents by shooting energy blasts from your hands.

Loved playing this on the Sega CD.

The most 90's Mahjong Club ever!
-
Makes about as much sense as any other explanation for the Yen crash of the 90's as I've ever heard, and I'd say you brought plenty of evidence to back it up. A+.

Why I didn't assume that coming from you, I don't know.
There are hostess clubs within a 10 minute walk from my apartment, but I don't know about any strip mahjong clubs. The way I imagine it, a master mahjong player is seen as so masculine and virile, women just can't help themselves but to undress and throw themselves at them when they lay the smackdown on some tiles like a boss.
Well, that's how I imagine Japanese men imagine it, anyway.
"Kiru!!"
"Areala-san, please stop playing to lose..."
