  1. I would have to choose between River City Ransom, Ninja Gaiden and one of the Zeldas.
  2. I do not remember exactly but I'm pretty sure I heard about Retromags on Filenetworks. I am very happy to be a member here.
  3. 1. Mario 2. Link 3. Samus Aran 4. Pikachu 5. Princess Peach 6. Ryu Hayabusa 7. Tifa Lockhart 8. Sonic 9. Solid Snake 10. Yoshi
  4. Underworld 1 - 3, Resident Evil 1 - 3, Equilbrium, I Robot, Harry Potter 1 - 5
  5. I'm with you E...pretty tired of the flood of shooters out there.
  6. I grew up in the era of the Coleco Vision, Commodore 64, Atari and the NES. The time when the gaming industry was bouncing back from its near death. This era was the beginning of the industry as we know it today so I'm extremely glad that I was able to see the industry being born and grow up to what it is today.
  7. Final Fantasy VII was littered with too many flaws to write about but I still had fun playing the game. I just wish someone would rewrite the damn story and dialogue so that it actually makes sense.
  8. Personally I love both. 2D scrollers like Ninja Gaiden, Mario, Bionic Commando, etc. are still awesome today.
  9. Kid Icarus would be a nice remake. Final Fantasy VII does not need a remake, it needs a complete overhaul. It was a fun game but it was crappy too.
  10. I think newer games in general are far easier than games on the NES and SNES.
  11. The notion that the survival horror genre is dead is completely ridiculous. Like every genre, survival horror games have evolved. If a genre does not evolve with the times, then it effectively dies. Mario 64 may or may not be considered a platformer. Platformer purists might not, but in reality it is--although it might not be in the traditional sense. The point is that once technology advanced into having 3D characters and environments, it was only natural that the once 2D platformer would evolve as well. If it were not for Mario 64, the genre may have died by now (speculation of course). Purists never like change, but change is inevitable. Why do you think there are so many sub-genres for every genre. Genres eventually change making way for sub-genres. Resident Evil 4 may have put more emphasis on exact aiming, combat and reflexes but at its core it is a survival horror game. Sterling seems like a purist and as such he is already biased against anything that does not meet the standard definition of an SH game.
  12. Cannot believe no one recommended Resident Evil 4. Yes I know it is no longer exclusive to the GC but it still looks the best on the Cube and if you are collecting games for the Cube then this is a must have.
  13. 7th Saga was pretty difficult. Unless you spend an amazing amount of time leveling up, the game is virtually impossible to beat.
  14. I would probably say most shooters. I have tried to get into the genre and it has been really difficult for me. There are too many buttons to push especially for the PC. This is partially why I prefer retro games, I do not wish to have to worry about ten different buttons to push or 20 for a PC game.
  15. I have never really been a fan of games that originated from a television show or a movie--they all seem to feel too contrived (although Goldeneye for the N64 was damn good) but I would love to see a fighter involving the He-Man/She-ra universe. If such a game were developed, I'd prefer they use the old designs from the 80's and not the recent ones from the 2000s.
  16. The last retro games I have played are 7th Saga and the Adventures of LOLO
  17. Everyone I know who truly enjoys gaming would like to see a new Kid Icarus game, so the interest is there...perhaps Nintendo is developing one as we speak. The original was never an easy game...although I have not played it a whole lot, I have still yet to beat the game...lol...if a new one is produced, I would love for it to be as difficult as the original. Anyone else here feel that Kid Icarus was actually a difficult game to beat or am I alone in this?
  18. I can find good games in all genres but those that interest me the least are: Racing/Flight sims MMOs FPS
  19. Although it has recently been revived, platformers are on a decline. At one point in the gaming industry, platformers actually dictated the success of a console. The DS has revived interest in this type of genre but I feel it is still in decline mode. Turn based strategy games are on a decline as well. RTS games seem to be more popular but I love TBS games such as Civilization and AOE.
  20. Heck yeah, that was an awesome commercial! I always loved the slogan of the time as well, "Nintendo, now you're playing with power." For me it is a toss up between SMB3 and SMW--they were both great, IMHO. I did however purchase the SNES because I thought SMW was totally awesome!
  21. I have to agree with you e-day, while FFVII was a major graphics breakthrough for the series, the game itself was not great. There were way too many flaws for it to be great, the biggest flaw being the incomprehensible storyline. The story itself did not make a whole lot of sense.
  22. Hands down, it would have to be Myst; although Carmen Sandiego was great fun as well.
  23. I voted for DD NES since it was the first beat-em up game I've ever played but I really did like River City Ransom a lot.
  24. I have not played any over-hyped games but there seems to be consensus that Halo 3, GTA IV and MGS 4 were all hype machines.
  25. I play mostly retro titles. I feel that the SNES probably has the best RPGs ever made so I still replay 7th Saga, Tales of Phantasia, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy etc. I am still playing all of the Dragon Warrior/Quest games on the NES. Dragon Warrior got me into RPGs and I have loved the genre ever since. I love the NES, SNES and GBA and so I play games from those systems. Of course I play modern games as well, but I absolutely love retro!!
