TurboForce

Content

TurboForce is a magazine devoted exclusively to NEC's TurboGrafx-16 and TurboDuo consoles and games. It is Sendai's shot at a TG16 magazine and dovetails with the publishing periods of LFP's TurboPlay and Duo World, suggesting that Turbo Technologies may have turned to Sendai to publish a TG16 title after severing ties with LFP in some fashion.

History

Like LFP's Turbo magazines, TurboForce is a 32-page title that received most of its ad revenue from TTI and appears to have only been available via subscription (although a UPC code is included on the final issue).

Unlike TurboPlay, however, TTI held a very large degree of editorial control over TurboForce's content. The first issue was written entirely by NEC staff from Japan and very clunkily translated into English, in the fashion of early Nintendo Power issues. Later issues look much like the Sendai magazines of the day, but no reviews were ever published, making this the only Sendai console title to not have its own unique take on the multi-score Review Crew format.

The final issue of TurboForce came out in early 1993; after that, TG16 mag publication reverted back to LFP with Duo World later that year.
